Recently, 20 spoiled brats, with nothing better to do than to dishonor the men and women fighting and dying in Iraq and Afghanistan, staged a 'die in' at Ohio University (not Ohio State).  In this 'die in' they lay down on the ground and pretended to be aborted fetuses - oops, wrong story.  They pretended to be innocent victims of America's nazi armed forces. Unbeknownst to them (as most are clueless anyway), one of their own students is a Marine serving in Iraq at this very time.&n...

Ever heard of that statement?  It is actually a good way to describe getting a back handed compliment, and one of our favorite writers (RIGHT!) has just damned some of our fellow bloggers with faint praise. There are conservatives on this site who do the right loads of favors with good writing and well-thought-out ideas, including Bakerstreet and Larry Kuperman. Sorry Larry and Baker.  I think you are well written and very articulate, regardless of what the local village ...

There is a big stink blowing right now over the nomination of John Bolton to be the next ambassador to the UN.  While the democrats are digging up some old lies that will be laid bare in the light of the hearings, the big gotcha that they are trying to hang Bolton on is the fact that he called the UN a corrupt and irrelevant organization that has lost its usefulness. And in that he is correct, altho that is not the reason the democrats are stating they oppose him.  No, instead t...

Back during the Lewinsky scandal, a lot of jokes were flying about the Clinton legacy.  One of the best came out after 2000 when someone penned "Clinton: Having sex amid the Bushes". Ok, so his legacy will be about his pecadillos as that does not appear to be going away even now.  But now comes news out of Bean town, that bastion of the right wing conspiracy, that Clinton, without a father from Birth, now has a family. And that family is?  The Bushes!  Yep, the Boston p...

It seems that the NY times has signed on to the democrat wing of the Get Tom Delay brigade. Instead of just spouting their own liberal bias, or just slanting the news towards their liberal friends, now they are soliciting prominent republicans to go against Tom Delay. Now I can see democrats doing that.  After all, Tom Delay is an effective and lethal republican that has stymied them at every turn.  And indeed, done more to set their agenda back than even Bush (arguably).  B...

The democrat controlled legislature of Maryland has written a bill so narrow in focus, that only one company would be penalized.  Wal Mart. I know many people dont like the company and indeed, I dont like shopping there either, but for reasons not due to its size.  But not liking a company and seeking government to punitatively wound it are 2 different things, and not at all related. I punish Wal-Mart by not shopping there.  While my puny little one man operation is hardly g...

In a recent article, one of the members of JU said he was leaving the Democrat party.  He did not say he was joining the Republicans, or even becoming more conservative, just that he was tired of the hate and vitriol that was being spewed by some of the more prominent liberals on the JU site. And like Clockwork, they pounced, ripping and tearing and flaming any and all in their sights.  Not even bother to understand what is written, just lashing out like a wounded animal at any and ...

Ok, I can go for Airforce One.  And Marine One, but calling Bush's iPod "iPod One".  Aren't we going a little far with this? I will admit it made me laugh when I read it, but then it got me to thinking. Bush, in addition to listening to songs by Country and Western artists, most of whom did vote for him, also listens to artists who campaigned against him. In addition, since he got an iPod and not a Dell product, he does not hold the politics of the CEO against a company as it ...

Well, I finally did finish the book and then went out this past week and bought House Harkonnen. That might be a testament to how good it was, and on its own and forgetting who his father was and what he wrote (Brian not Kevin), it was not a bad story. But it was very clear that it also could not stand alone as too many threads were left hanging (and hence why I bought the next one and started reading it already). For those Familiar with the Dune series, this is a prequel, and a pretty goo...

What apparently started as an Internet Joke, is now being used by JOhn "whine me" Kerry to push through unneeded election reforms.  As justification for his latest "whiny" bleating, Kerry offers the following lame excuse: "Leaflets are handed out saying Democrats vote on Wednesday, Republicans vote on Tuesday....." Now I fully support the right of every american of legal age (and restored voting rights if you are a convicted felon) to vote.  Indeed, I would like to see more ...

Many people have opined of late on what the Catholic Church should or should not do about electing the next Pope.  Some where Humorous (and yes, Fr. Guido Sarducci COULD be the next pope!), and others worrisome monologues on what may happen.  And yet a final category went a bit too far (I think) in trying to DICTATE to the Church what "It had better do or else". I find the last to be extremely amusing as those generally come from: A - Non-Catholics how dont know squat; or B - Cathol...
