With Kudos to Mason on the Trucker Lingo, I give you Richmond Va. Lingo. For those not familiar with it, you cannot go south and talk this lingo.  It is very regionalized, even though at one time it was the Capital of the Confederacy.  I will try to differentiate. Y'All - that means one, two or a bunch.  It means all of you! All Y'all - Does not exist.  Speak it, and we know you are Yankees Aboat - Means About.  cant you understand English? Huse - Gee!&nbs...

I guess my blood is getting sweeter cause this time it took them ONE day to call me (I dont think they were open on the 4th when I became eligible).  I guess I am eligible.  After all, the blood my doctor has been sucking down does not count. But one day after I am eligible? I am wanted! (actually my wife hates my snoring, but then when I am not.......) I hate the process, but do it because I can, and my blood type is needed.  I wish more could or would give.  I...

More than a friend actually.  When I was at my lowest, she was there.  Many a night we chatted and talked well into the wee hours of the mourning.  I bared my soul to her, and she laughed it off.  We were a continent apart.  But she was my friend. SHe had heart problems. I knew it.  Yet I loved her anyway.  But love was not enough.  And her heart gave out.  I have not talked to her in many months.  Her life got busy as did mine.  So we lo...

Several weeks ago I opined that perhaps Bin Laden was really dead. Just an opinion, but based on the fact that his tapes (audio - no video) was late in commenting on recent events, and his number 2 (who might be number 0 if it was found out) was doing all the talking. Now comes another hint.  This one from the Washington Post (of course not revealing any secrets ala plame) that reports on the "get Bin Laden Brigade" at langley being disbanded. Of course this is not proof, but it is an...

Yea, this is going to be one!  Of independence from weeds and low lying tree limbs!  My son is down and our Governor, Ted Matthews, has give us a 4 day weekend.  So what started out innocently enough - sculpturing the deck and the back 40, has turned into trimming the trees to allow sunlight for the ne'er do wells! (well, I kind of like that little spruce tree).  But with temps hovering in the 100s and humidity to soak a sun, it is not pretty! But we are bound and determin...

Gideon wrote an excellent article on the Liberal Bloggers he likes. https://forums.joeuser.com/Forums.aspx?ForumID=16&AID=122304#948891 And I contributed my 2 cents.  We still have some.  Albeit they are a dying breed.  It seems that the Australian liberals have a much better time.  Only one has been kicked off, and that was for his incessant desire to pick nits more than his views.  Still, I do miss him even if he never wrote an article.  But the rest ...

No wonder the Shark has lasted for millions of years!  Wouldn't you if you had 55 offspring at a time?  Apparently the record Tigershark (one of the 3 species that likes homosapien meat without provocation) was a record cause she had 55 "pups" ready to hatch. Ok, I did not know baby sharks were pups.  They could have chosen a less cuddly term.  But my German Sheppard once had 11 pups  And one died since she only had 10 teats.  55?  I guess sharks got teats l...

Sitting and watching TNG, I am again assaulted by Diane Muldaur when she arrogantly decides that the genetic mutants must be safe, but the wise Captain does not allow her to bring one on board.  So they do the deed in a shuttle - she and Data.  Of course as we all know, they are the source for the illness cripling the outpost (and killing a ships crew).  Since Data is not biological, he can escape. Why did they have to save her with a strand of her hair?  Best to have...

Many of us here at JU are Baby Boomers.  Others are Gen X, and Gen Y.  With the exception of Stevendedalus (and others less frequent members perhaps?), that Pretty much encompasses all of us (Steven is the Greatest Generation).  So what defines each generation?  Well, for Steven it is easy.  The Great Depression and WWII.  Nothing can top those 2 for defining their generation, and the rest of us still are in awe at their sacrifice and tenacity in the face of ove...

I changed the headlines, but honestly dont think I will get any bites.  If Bush did say that, what would the liberals yell?  Well, we already know what they would yell. But Actually (if you click on the link), you will see that Putin said it.  And where are the liberals now?  The NY Times?  Howard Dean?  John Kerry? Babs Streisand? Want to bet that none rise up in arms over Putin's statement?  Want to bet a lot of liberals click on this link and then slin...

I have had this credit card for over 10 years.  Closer to 15.  It was one of those unsolicited things you get, but the name grabbed my attention.  Harris Bank.  Why the name?  My boss at the time was named Cam Harris, and she is unquestionably one of the best I have ever had.  So it became my favorite one. Over the years, the card limit was bumped and bumped and bumped.  Until it is one of those platinum cards with lots of credit.  But something happene...

DOCTOR Susan Roberts, has weighed in on the Flag Burning Amendment.  In it she opines: It seems unlikely that the Supreme Court would now uphold an amendment prohibiting flag burning, even with the change in the court's composition. As the article notes, Dr. Roberts is: Dr. Susan Roberts is associate professor of political science at Davidson College. Political science?  She is teaching kids about the Politics of America and she is so woefully ignorant of how the...
