Harry Reid is threatening to block the congressional raise that the fat cats have voted themselves unless congress passes a new Minimum Wage law.  GREAT.  The last people who deserve a raise is those tin plated buffoons!  And if it takes an impotent threat by Reid (he cannot block the house raise as each house does its own thing even if they usually do it together) to kill their pay raise, I am all for it. But I am afraid the Caspare milquetoasts of republicans will cave. ...

Sunday was a lazy day for my wife and I.  It was rainy, and I was still recovering from what I now believe to be a bout of food poisoning, so we were doing minimal work.  Just some light house cleaning.  While doing the laudry and such, we flipped the TV over to the Discovery Channel.  They were running a special on Krakatoa, probably the most violent volcanic eruption in recorded history (I find them fascinating).  After that went off, they brought on a show titled "The...

One has to wonder.  The latest indication is Al Zawahri delivering the eulogy for Al Zarqawi.  Yet what struck me was this: Al-Zawahri, who is believed to be hiding in the mountains on the Pakistani-Afghan border, Which is the area that Bin laden was supposed to be in as well.  If Al Zawahri can get a tape out, why cant Bin Laden? And then there is also this: did not mention al-Zarqawi's successor, named by al-Qaida in Iraq as Abu Hamza al-Muhajer. The omission might...

Back in the days before the Civil war, there was generally considered to be 2 kinds of blacks.  Free Men and slaves.  Free Men, through work or a twinge of conscious of their former masters, were just that.  Free people.  And as such, they enjoyed all the rights granted to other citizens of the US.  They could vote, they could own property, they could marry and raise a family.  They were citizens. After the war, all the blacks were Free Men (Men used in this sens...

It seems that John Edwards has come up with a new way to raise campaign contribultions!  I usually dont read these letters and they just head for the bit bucket, but the from attracted my attention, so I did.  It seems Great Uncle Cody has left me a rich man if I can only send some money to John Edward. I have been working with company X to try to recover a NAS for the last week.  A little background might help to understand the circus I work in. First, there is no backup for this NAS.  Both the owner (I am just support) and my Boss decided that was too expensive (for those who have read me, my boss is a pissant that likes to piss off people and if he is mad at you, will give you bad advice).  Second, ignoring my pleas to get this NAS on a UPS, the Owner hemmed and hawed and h...

Sarah Stoekl has been reviewing movies for some time now, and I do enjoy her reviews.  I agree with her more than not (and my son less than not).  I think she does a very good job.  But I have not seen her review Ray.  If she has, I do appologize and beg her forgiveness. I saw Ray this week.  And I was very moved!  I grew up with Ray Charles Robinson, and yet I knew so little about him (other than his music which I always loved).  Th emovies, according to hi...

Ah yea!  Mason is headed there.  Actually, I was there but 4 years ago (briefly - flying along on I 5). Oceanside California!  Home of the 1st Marine Division in Camp Pendleton!  What a town (not much anymore as it is typical SoCal!).  But a place I spent more than a few years of my youth, and where I learned to surf. Ever see "The Summer of 42"?  Ok, not that great (but only by a gnats whisker!).  But it was Summer all year round.  I was early teens...
