Ah, I thought long and hard on where to put this!  But decided it was best in Humor.  I know it is serious in the Land Down Under, but it is also very amusing! It seems that our mates to the south have a problem with Deer.  Wait!  Sorry!  That old colonial me going wrong again!.  Roos!  Despite culling them (killing for you PETA people), they are increasing exponentially!  And not much the Aussies can do about it.  But they have a plan! Salt the...

Quick!  What is the worst thing you can call a German?  What is the worst offensive gesture in Nigeria? What is Shit in Spanish, French, and German? How many of you know?  What if I had substituted Japanese, Chinese and Russian? And the good old classic, Forced Unnatural Carnal Knowledge.  What is it in German and have you ever used it? These are but a few questions I have for the Washington Post and a local talking head (or poop chute as that is where he orates f...

Yes, worlds.  Not like earth and Mars.  But when the worlds of earth collide.  And what are those worlds? Perception and Reality. You see, we don't live in reality.  That is the real world.  We live in perception.  What we perceive. To give you an example.  Many on the left think that Bush stole the election in 2000.  That is their perception.  And no amount of facts, recounts (both before and after the decision) will change their mind.  To...

A teacher in Kentucky, Dan Holden, decided that show and tell was better than a book.  And often time it is.  Touching, seeing, feeling an issue is far better to a child than reading a dull boring text book on it. But there is a difference between showing a dead frog, and burning the school down!  This is not some young idealic huffed out teacher.  This guy has been teaching for 27 years!  And he decides to burn not one, but 2 flags - IN A CLASS ROOM?????? Perhaps ...

Thus the headline blared at me from the checkout stand of the store.  And a front page photo of a couple of rednecks and their hound dogs having brought Bin Laden to ground. (An FYI - It was the Weekkly World News in case you are interested). But looking at that headline (no, I did not pick up and read the paper.  Boredom is more productive), I realized 2 things.  The picture was a photoshoped one (and not half bad), and we have gotten the same stuff form supposedly 'reputable'...

Well, maybe not all of them, but some are too stupid to live, and we got one here.  He has been Captured.  But William Morva was awaiting trial on charges of Armed Robbery.  First offense, good defense weasel, he could have been out in 5-10 years.  Maybe less. Instead he killed 2 people, one a Deputy Sheriff.  Now, he will not see the light of freedom again, and in all probability get the chair (or the needle - they give you a choice here). You can kill a family, a...

"Sheehan Treated at Waco Hospital"--headline, Associated Press, Aug. 12 What happened to the Politically correct way of saying "Mentally Disturbed"? "Europe High-Speed Train Sees Passenger Jump"--headline, MSNBC.com, Aug. 14 Kind of an extreme way to get out of paying the fare. "Census Shows Growth of Immigrants"--headline, New York Times, Aug. 15 Must the NBA's recruiting class. "Men With Low Testosterone More Likely to Die"--headline, LiveScience.com, Aug. 14 M...

We all know about Groupies.  Those are the ones that glom onto bands and follow them to every gig.  It is not enough that they hear the band, they have to foillow them.  I have never understood them.  Yea, I like some bands.  Some to the point that I do follow their road tours. From home.  But I dont follow them like the dead heads do. I can watch them, and listen to them, but I will never understand them.  For some reason, they have an unnatural obsesssion ...

Well, almost!  And the Mets have the largest lead of any division leader!  But not the best record (only the second best).  That goes to Detroit (I am reminded of 84 83?).  But they have been slowing down and may be back to good from Ouch soon enough.  But the one thing I have noticed is why the Mets are doing so well. Hitting?  Nah!  Just average. HomeRuns? (I love the days of Kingkong Kingman, but they never amounted to any champioiships).  Nah...

My wife is off to Germany to attend a wedding, so I got 10 days of boring and batching it.  But before she left, I gave her a crash course in a few German phrases.  And that was a riot! I first told her to forget "Quanta Costa?" that in Germany it was "Wievil?".  They are more succinct, you got to admit (my wife is fluent in Spanish and she does all the talking when we go to Mexico). But it took 15 minutes of tutoring to get her to say Ich correctly.  Even Kennedy could...

But today, with my wife gone, and the chores all done, I watched some of the Star Trek Uncut on G4.  And one of the episodes was about Harry Mudd! And it is one of my favorites (the one with the Robot planet),  And I know he was only in 2 (correct me if I am wrong), but he is my favorite villan!  yea, he is a pirate (dont we love pirates tho?), but he was never really evil.  Just a bumbling con man that gets bested every time he shows up! This one was with the Anne's an...

Recently, a couple of the bloggers on JU have opined about the "Peyton Place" nature of JU.  Indeed, recently we have had many Drama Queens, Divas, macho blogs and drug addicts posting here.  And while some had some thoughts of wisdom, most were just antagonistic and a waste of electrons. But that is what makes a community.  Think about it.  We have drama queens (or the chronic complainers I guess in real life), the Hoity Toity, and the Macho men in our neighborhoods, righ...

In the last 3 weeks we have had a chance to compare and contrast 2 people.  One on the left and one on the right and how they were treated by the Supposedly unbiased media. And we have learned.  What? Well here is the first, I am sure you will recognize it: Gibson Said to Slam Jews, Misbehave During DUI http://abcnews.go.com/WNT/story?id=2251876 Ok, factual, and the headline shows that.  Now the next. Andrew Young leaves Wal-Mart media group http://mone...
