For the 4th year now, I had the privilege of working on a worthy fund raiser.  For those not aware, or new to JU, my wife's nephew was killed in an Auto Accident 14 years ago.  It really devastated her sister and brother-in-law.  But instead of letting it ruin their life, and that of their other children, they made something positive about it.  R was about to go to college on a scholarship.  But died before be could attend.  So in his memory, each year on the last S...

I joined JU because of the debates. I stayed because of the community. It was fun getting to know certain people, and then interacting with them. I read the ToU and understood that as long as I did not get nasty with my fellow citizens, I could post anything to my blog that I wanted. JU being wonky, sometimes things that I did not want to share were shared briefly, and somethings I did not want to go into the forums did. Brad and Zoomba have as much admitted that there are problems there. As...

Well, I have been back almost a week now, and other than some humorous articles, I have not had time to post anything. Why?  Is it because I am abandoning JU?  Is it because I am so mellow from 75-80 degree temps (and smirking as my in-laws shivered in the 'cold')?  Is it because I am bereft of ideas? Well, the latter might be true.  But the real reason is those damn clowns in DC!  "Oh Let's save some money and change DST!".  Yea right!  My mother always use...

Yes people, Switzerland has joined the rank of invading countries!  In keeping with its size and capabilities, Switzerland did not try to take on any behemouths like Monaco or Andora.  Instead it decided to pick on someone its own size, and invaded Liechtenstein! With a company of 170 heavily armed troops (actually it was heavy arms - but I digress), Switzerland drove deep into enemy territory before being driven back by an enraged farmer with a plow mule and pitchfork! The actua...

IN what I predicted 3 months ago (which I will not claim an y prognostication power for since it was obvious to most rational thinking people) following the mid term elections that put the democrats in power, the base of the left has decided that their "toadies" are not being toady enough.  Yep!  The loons on the left are now trashing the democrats for not basically doing what they promised, and instead playing politics. For 6 years democrats have trashed republicans for everything ...

Last night, I went to bed with a period.  Confident in my knowledge that although aging, I was doing so gracefully.  But little did I know that whilst I slept, someone was conspiring to age my body beyond my normal eternal youthfulness! Today I awoke, and something was different.  You know how it is.  You know something is, but not what.  What could it be?  But I went about my daily duties thinking that perhaps it was just a synaptic disconnect (which sometimes l...

In a day, I am going to leave this freezer, for climates more suitable for living.  Southern California.  Where the highs this time of year are in the 60s and 70s (mostly the latter), and the lows a balmy 50 or so.  And the sun always shines!  Yes, paradise in Ferbruary! Once there, I shed my long sleeves, long pants and shoes!  And spend 10 days in shorts, short sleeves and bare feet!  As this has been happening about 4 years now, my wife's family has created a ...

I had stopped counting my steps - when?  I could not even remember when it was.  They said it would be a short cut.  My mind laughed at me for believing that!  What?  3 days ago?  if there was something out here to indicate I had gone ten feet, at least I would have something to look forward to (back?). But the sands shifted with every and the wind swept them clean with regularity. As this was the fall, the temperatures were not bad.  But I laughed w...

The link is about a very bizarre and weird, and frightening tale.  About a divorce, where the mother (as usual) got custody of the couple's 3 daughters.  About a man, a sitting judge no less, tried 9 times to force visitation with them, and about a women that went off the deepend and locked up the 3 girls for 7 years in a squallid, mouse infested cesspool, with no outside contact with the world. The tale is sad, and scary.  Sad?  Authorities say the oldest girl may never r...

Any "Silence of the Lambs" out there?  If so, dont see this movie.  Because as horrible as the earlier ones are (Silence, red Dragon), this one is not.  Except for the cannibalism. SPOILER WARNING!  Read no Further if you dont want to be spoiled on the movie.   Ok, still here (all 1 of you?)?  The origin of Hannibal is in 1944 Lithuania.  The eastern front.  Some Lithuanians, trying to break free of Russia, have hooked up with some Germans.  ...
