The Duke Lacrosse case is falling apart. Clearly to most, it is a case of a drunk woman charging racism where none exist. But the DA, Nifong, has decided that his career is worth more than justice. Not unique, but unfortunately all too common. The latest gotcha is that the cab driver, who has given a pass to one of the defendants has an outstanding warrant. What is that warrant? It seems that someone who hired him, tried to rob a convenience store, and then rode ...
I was thinking of putting this under the heading of Entertainment as it does have a lot to argue for that. But then I started listening to the Radio and the results of the day and decided to expand it. American Idol (who Jamie Burnside has been following closely and very well) is down to 3. America was shocked when Chris Daughtry was voted out as most thought he really was the best (along with the judges). But that is what happens when you allow America to vote. Someti...

A while back, Cordelia did a blog on where are you. But it was limited to the 50 states. Which was good, but not really good for all. Recently, Sally posted a blog, and Dynamaso said something about posting while we sleep. He lives down under, so yea, he is offset from us colonials by 12-14 hours. I know Islandgurl is also over there as she does not usually come on line until after 6pm, my time. But I am curious as to where you are at in time. Here on the e...
As predicted, the vampires started calling me last week. The gave me the weekend to donate, but I was busy that weekend. So yesterday, I finally broke down and went to donate. I was a little leery after my previous donation when I almost passed out, but knew that unless I contracted AIDS, they would not stop calling. So I go for the mini-physical, and all seemed to be OK. Then into the chair to donate. Just as they were sticking the needle into my arm, my wife called.&...
Last year, England banned the ancient sport of lords, Fox Hunting. Now it seems the foxes are exacting revenge! In what so far is only an amusing invasion, it appears the crafty fox is invading suburbia. So far - because other than a few flamingos of Her Royal Highness, the Queen, the foxes seem only to be raiding garbage cans, not hen houses (cat houses?). It appears that they have adapted to the encroachment of man, and like the squirrel, can live side by side with ma...
No, this is not a rabid call to arms to nuke Iran or Saudi Arabia. This is a story about an outfit in Las Cruces New Mexico that is soliticing donors to come in and donate some plasma (the clear stuff of blood) for gas money! And I think it is great! I would hope more people would donate out of a sense of civic mindedness, but if the High gas prices is what is going to push up donations, I am all for it! But it is funny in a way. For the slogan "No Blood For Oil" now h...
Can anyone tell me what happened 2 days after the date listed in the title? Anyone? Not you Chakgogka! You already answered the last 5 questions. Yes, Parated? That is correct! Iraq invaded Kuwait and the first Gulf war was at hand. How is that a current event. Let me wax nostalgic for a second. On July 31st, 1990, I was given the option of pre-buying heating oil for the upcoming winter. As I remember, I bought 500 gallons at a price of 69.9/ga...
JU is acting Hinky today {GASP} . Yes it is true. Many have been posting 2, 3 or more times because they get an error when posting an article. It happens, it has happened before, and probably will again. Just a suggestion for those not wanting the hassle of multiple articles saying the exact same thing. When you get the error message, open a second browser window (leave the original one on the Article you are trying to post) and navigate to Joe User/Newest Article...

I do love the Beatles. HOw do the brits say them? No matter, Maso will translate into Aussie for us Colonials! And now for your reading pleasure, The Best Beatles song ever! Koo-Koo-Ka Cho! "I Am the Walrus" I am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together. See how they run like pigs from a gun, see how they fly. I'm crying. Sitting on a cornflake, waiting for the van to come. Corporation tee-shirt, stupid bloody Tuesday. Man, you...
So we went to see it today. And it was FUN! It is not going to win any awards, and for sure Tom Cruise is not going to get best actor. But love him or hate him, he was good! The movie was fun, as it started out fast and never slowed down. But, alas for me, I figured all out long before the end. Yet I still loved it! And knowing the end did not detract form it in the least (I whispered to my son a hint that showed I had figured it out - he cursed me afterwar...
Well, not actually. I finally broke down and bought the 2 volume set of A Tale of Love and War. And Since I am taking a trip soon, I will be enjoying a saga of the time of the greatest generation. My Kudos to the one who recommended it. Review to come later. Amazon is Slow San Chonino! I ordered it 3 weeks ago!
