Yea, we were crowing back in aught 3 when Isabel tore us a new one and we lost power for 10 days.  While our neighbors took cold showers, we had hot ones.  But with the run up in gas prices (both liquid and gaseous ones), it has not been cheap.  Right now we are paying around $3/gal for propane.  But as it was only 2 of us, no big deal. Until today.  Our hot water heater died.  They do that.  So you spend a few bucks and get a new one.  Or you get a tan...

Yvonne DeCarlo died, according to sources, of Natural causes today.  It seems all our childhood TV stars (and movie for that matter) are leaving us.  But when I read she was 84, it made me feel old! Herman, Grandpa, and now Lily.  Mawell, Gilligan too.  I guess time stands for no one, even our childhood idols.

My wife is on a crusade. To get us in the Tachy Light Show of Richmond.  Not all at once, but each year we add some more, and some more.  I figure next year we will qualify!  But it takes a long time to put up 20k lights!  So when it comes to taking them down, I am a charter member of the Procrastinators club. Fortunately, Aunt Ginny has bestowed on their lowly serfs a 4 day weekend in the middle of January.  We not only get MLK day off, but a thing (that long predate...

Hey Admins.  JU burped and posted an article before I was finished.  Now, I cannot edit or delete it.  Sure would be nice to be able to do either. I undersand about the Anon ban, but the handcuffs on the registered users? Oh Great Zoomba, hear my Plea!  And take pity on your poor lost soul! Amen.

Apparently, the NY Times now feels that Post Partum Abortion is a cause Celebre that must be defended at all costs (including the truth).  Back in April, one of their "unbiased" writers, Jack Hitt reported on a case of a women being given a long prison sentence for having an 18 week abortion.  And he advocated that she should not be in jail for killing her baby. The problem is, that the woman, Carmen Climaco, did not have an abortion.  She murdered her new born baby after birth...

The headlines today blared: Massive deaths in another Terrorist Attack on the US.  The originator was Pat Robertson.  And CNN and Fox dutifully carried the news.  And the local idiot of a talking head is dedicating an hour or 2 to rant about "Who listens to him?".  Well for one, the idiot talking head. For another a couple of Internet News Services.  For a third?  Anyone else you can think of?  Simply put, Pat Robertson has been a caricature for the last oh,...

Back in the day (yea before the time of Terpfan1980), I came of voting age.  Around 1974.  For the younguns, that means nothing.  For my dear Grandmother, that meant a lot (I was the chosen one since I came back from Germany on the day Nixon resigned - a man she hated). But I was now of age.  A man (in those days old enough to drink and vote).  And so my first real president was Ford.  And I liked him (I never thought he was great, but he was a nice guy).  A...

Yea, I have been around.  Kind of.  Enough to read Kelly's Masterpiece!  And a couple of other entries.  But not much.  ANd not all (appologies to those I missed).  WHy? Well, some know that my son is here and my time with him is of premium importance (and for those keeping a stop watch, it is after midnight so stuff it).  But what none know, (well a couple) until now is my wife has been on a jihad to make 100 tamales!  It is the traditional food f...

Of his guilt, I think there is no question.  But I think the haste leaves a lot to be desired.  What is the rush?  I guess for his victims, there is no haste, just a long delay.  And I cannot "understand" what they have been through, only read it like a B Rated Horror movie. But whatever the reason for the haste, one thing is for certain.  While the brain dead will paint this as an act by the "puppet" government of Iraq, it is clear, the US would rather it take a norm...

Died today.  Adnauseum wrote a very fitting Epitaph for him in the link.  And I am impressed with his analysis.  For one not of this country, he did an excellent job. But then I had to write my own.  Why?  He was the first president I voted for.  Having come of age just 2 years prior.  At the time the nation was a mess.  Vietnam (You know, Johnson's war), Watergate, and wage price controls.  None of them were his fault, and we were still in the col...

http://www.herald-mail.com/?module=displaystory&story_id=154557&format=html In another (actually 2) examples of brain dead administrators implementing stupid rules with no thought behind the use of said rules, it appears that the age of sexual predators has dropped to 4 and 5 years old.  Not 14 or 15, four or five! In Maryland, a young boy has to go through elementary school listed as a sexual predator.  His crime?  He pinched a girls fanny!  OK, I am not goin...
