Debate, and discuss, just dont Bore me.

Yea, we were crowing back in aught 3 when Isabel tore us a new one and we lost power for 10 days.  While our neighbors took cold showers, we had hot ones.  But with the run up in gas prices (both liquid and gaseous ones), it has not been cheap.  Right now we are paying around $3/gal for propane.  But as it was only 2 of us, no big deal.

Until today.  Our hot water heater died.  They do that.  So you spend a few bucks and get a new one.  Or you get a tankless.

Except for Gas.  Tankless go for over 2 grand (installed - it is a forced air, not a vented heater).  And have to be special ordered (at least in this neck of the woods).  Ok, so we get a regular one, right?  SUUUUURRRRRREEEE!

A grand for the heater alone!  I am so thrilled now with gas!  NOT!  I am not going to buy another gas appliance (I was thinking of a stove) period!  They may have been economical at one time, but that time is not now!

Anyone want to buy a used Toyota?  Got to pay for it someway.

I o like gas stoves just because they get a lot more heat going much faster than electrics, very pricey in the long run though.

That is true.  And like I said, we were the only ones with hot water for a week, so there is that.  But I wish they would quit touting them as cheaper!

We're all electric...even heat.

My neighbors are paying almost three times more than we are for heat a month.  They use propane too.

Fortunately it is only the hot water heater (fortunately when we lost electricity for 10 days).  Oh well..... Yuck!

Natural gas is plentiful & cheaper here in Ohio (Methane - not propane). The price of the tank is about the same.
The folks that I know with electric baseboard heat have less dust in the house.
When the power is out we can cook on the stove top - but not the oven.
We have hot water - but the furnace is force air - so no heat.

I have a Generator (thank you fema!), so we can hook up most of the house.  Just no washer and dryer, but then there are laundromats.
