Locamama recently wrote an article asking asking several questions about why people blog.  http://locamama.joeuser.com/index.asp?AID=95055   It is a very revealing article both to others, and to those who took the time to answer the questions.  But one of the question generated a lot of questions itself, and not many answers. Do you consider yourself to be in with the in crowd on JU? So what is the "in Crowd" of JU?  I guess we could easily put Brad, Karmagir...

A second inspiration came from Demosthenes Locke, on the subject again of economics by Gideon MacLeish ( http://gideon-macleish.joeuser.com/articleComments.asp?AID=95112 ) that got me to thinking.  His comment was: understanding of economics can have a dramatic effect on how you approach problems, and how you view both worldly and everyday affairs. He is of Course right. In the 'sciences' are, there are what is known as soft science and hard science.  Soft Sciences are thos...

OK, who hear believes that Newsmax.com is right wing media?  Show of hands please? One, two, three, four, five - wait, kingbee, you can only vote once.  OK pretty much everyone here.  OK, Now I am going to ask how many think that CNN is left wing? One, two, three, four, Zoomba, let Moderateman raise his hand! OK, a couple of left of center, and pretty much all of the right of center people.  Pretty much what I expected.  OK, now for a couple of headlines: Judge ...

By now most have heard that Hillary Clinton was heckled at a recent campaign speech (she is always campaigning, altho how many NY voters actually live in Chicago is open for debate).  In it, several people were yelling at her to "get the troops home NOW".  But what many dopnt know, but soon wil, is that these hecklers learned the tricks of the trade from a source very close to them - Hillary Clinton! Joseph Califano, a member of the Johnson and Carter cabinet, is releasing his memoi...

A friend sent me the link.  At first I thought it was a farce site, and it may be.  But if it is it is done in very poor taste! It is a fairly new one by the signatures in the guest book.  But it does make you wonder how sick some people are!

Blue Dev recently had an article on health care.  He asked the question "Just because we can, does that mean we should?". http://bluedev.joeuser.com/index.asp?AID=94612  And after a few comments traded back and forth, I came to agree with him some what, with the big exception that I would never want to be the one making the decision. Now comes a report from Jolly old England, where the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence is telling their version of Health care tha...

Yes, our great friends in the AP have uncovered a secret plan by Al Qaeda!  As the AP reports: Terrorists also have made only infrequent use of stenography, the practice of hiding a text message in another kind of file, typically a picture, Reigel said. "It looks like a picture, but if you have the right program, you can extract a text message embedded in a picture," said Reigel, a 31-year FBI veteran who formerly led the New Orleans field office. Now we know!  They are go...

The Houston Symphony is doing Handel's Messiah.  How many dont know what that is? OK, for those of you who do not, it is a symphony that was created in tribute to Jesus.  All the Atheist may now quit reading. It was created in the 18th century by an Itinerant composer George Friedrich Handel to commemorate the Birth of Jesus (we can debate the date of his birth at a later date). And it is regularly performed around Christmas time.  My Wife and I just saw it a week ago. Well,...

Well, it has finally, truthfully come out!  The 4 hostages that were taken last week, are not over in Iraq to help the Iraqis!  They are there to aid the bacteria!  And it took the innocence of the daughter of one of the hostages to finally stop pussy footing around and speak the plain honest truth! In an interview on ABC's Nightline, Katherine Fox told the host: She said she wanted to remind her father's captors that he opposed the U.S. occupation of Iraq and had campaign...

A Man in Florida decided he was tired of Christmas, so he hung a Santa, bound, gagged and blindfolded, in his yard.  His neighbors were noticeably upset, but the man claimed free speech for his display. I can understand his frustration, as we all know that Christmas is very commercial, and when I first heard about it, I laughed!  It sounded funny.  But then someone pointed out that it would traumatize the children.  I wont go that far, but it does send them the wrong messa...

Thumbing through the latest articles on Sam Alito, I came across one by Jonathan Rosenblum (amazing what google will return with a search on key words).  This article was a little bit about Alito, but mostly it was about one man's observations of going from Liberal to Conservative in his life's journey. Rosenblum was not always conservative as he details, in fact probably back in the 60s, he was (in his words) one of the last to don a suit.  But over time, he has gone from Ideologue...
