I cant believe it!  But my oldest and I just got through a discussion.  (heated at times, but not on my end).  I told him that Suicidal people were not selfish, just whacked!  And he argued the point with me! I finally convinced him that, from a normal point of view, yes they are selfish, but to themselves in the act, they are not! Strike one. Then we argued about wackos and if they were responsible for their actions! (you know, Hinkley et al).  And then if reta...

Reuters recently ran a supposed article saying that Bush is the "least popular" president among the last 10.  Now, for the sake of the math impaired, let us look at the numbers: Only nine percent of the 662 people polled picked Bush as their favorite among the last 10 presidents. John F. Kennedy topped that part of the survey, with 26 percent, closely followed by Bill Clinton (25 percent) and Ronald Reagan (23 percent). OK, students, pull out the calculators.  They list the ...

That is an interesting question.  When the price of gas was too high, what did you do? Many bitched and moaned and accused the greedy oil companies of price gouging.  Indeed, Congress wants (another) committee to look into it.  And some of the moaners were actually Republicans.  But alas, most were Green Friendly democrats.  So question number one is: Why? When the price went through the ceiling, I cut back.  Many did, some could not.  But consumptio...

I have been reading Tova's articles, and they really move me!  Such a childhood, and to see what became of all that?  A wonderful person. But recently, someone (I forget now, so please, I did tell you I was going to write on this, speak up) recently talked about a bad childhood where the parents stayed together.  At least for awhile. My Childhood was nowhere near as bad as Tova7's  I had a loving, if angry mother.  And no father (faithful readers will remember that...

Since bin Laden hurled his load at the US 4 years ago, things have not gone well for him.  If we start the count from 9-12-01, nothing has gone very right for him!  And while he may not have assumed room temperature, it appears his battle is lost, and the only thing missing is his body. In what can only be termed a great slap at him, Wafah Dufour has not only repudiated her uncle, but indeed embraced America, and is asking for our acceptance.  Acceptance that should be giv...

Yes, I, a father of 4, made a major mistake!  I bought a rerun!  I did not do it on purpose (the company shipped the wrong product).  And I did not even look.  It said what I thought it should say, and so I was content that my shopping was done! But low, a star arose!  It was not Christ the lord!  It was my youngest son!  And while proudly showing him the ill gotten booty of his siblings, he noted "Dad, Alex has that one already!".  Looking aghast, I re...

Over the past couple of days, several bloggers here about have royally trashed Kenny G.  Almost to the point of hanging him in effigy. Am I weird?  I personally find his music very soothing and relaxing (I dont want to listen to it 24x7, but elected songs now and then sure are nice). Am I the only one that likes Kenny G?  And if you dont like him, what dont you like about him? Inquiring fans want to know!

Recently I wrote an article on why Conservatives are better debaters.  http://drguy.joeuser.com/index.asp?aid=94595   And as if to punctuate my points, and the points of the author of the original article, democraticunderground.com have decided they are the superiors in intellect! It seems now they are the Wile E. Coyotes.  If you remember, old Wile E. use to call himself a super genius, even tho he never could capture the road runner.  And like the loser Wile E. is, DU h...

During the height of the cold war, the old Soviet Union often taught its citizens, and even proclaimed to the world that it had invented everything, and discovered all the cures.  It was such a joke, that any fan of Star Trek can often hear Ensign Chekhov talking about something invented in Russia first. Well, now since the old USSR is dead and gone, and the Russians have more important things to worry about instead of false claims of grandeur, someone had to step into the void left by t...

The quality of the Kennedy genes has declined seriously since the times of John and Bobby.  Now, uber Environmentalist Bobby Jr. has decided that Wind Power is the way to go - except if it despoils his view. It seems someone wants to plant some windmills off of Nantucket.  Why?  because unlike coal, or Nuclear power plants, Windmill farms have a requirement that does not allow them to be placed just anywhere.  They kind of have to be placed where there is a lot of wind! ...
