Here in the heart of the confederacy, we recently had a spate of vandalism where some cars in a rich neighborhood (one of the first PUDS) were spray painted.  The miscreants stole the paint, along with some beer and a gun (not really part of the story as they either drank the beer or trashed it and did not use the gun) from a resident. Then they proceeded to spray paint some cars. They were caught and it turns out they were 13 and 15 and did it because of some restrictions on Skateboa...

Many of us like to joke about the French and their greatest military victories.  And of late, there have been jokes about the French surrendering to the rioters that have been going on for over 2 weeks now. Except it is no longer a joke according to the AP! "Stop the Violence," read one banner draped on the Wall of Peace near the Eiffel Tower. Some of the 200 demonstrators _ a small turnout in protest-friendly France _ waved white flags. You read that right!  A bunch of ...

Recently there has been a spate of "how could they" blogs that trashed working mothers.  I know the intent was not to trash all of them, but in their zeal to demonstrate their anti-feminism, they caught a lot of innocent mothers as well.  Including mine. Let me tell you about her. She was Valedictorian of her class.  She would have gone to college except my aunt got polio, so the money was not there.  She wound up marrying a loser.  Had some kids (we are catholic, ...

Drudge is reporting that Howlin Howie Dean ducked a chance to appear with Ken Mehlman on Meet the Press.  It seems in Howie's entire tenure as head of the DNC, he has yet to have a joint appearance with his Republican counter part, even though Terry McAuliffe did so 5 times. The allegation is that the 'handlers' of Howie do not want such a confrontation, only God knows why.  Howie can stick his foot in his mouth without any help!  And besides, seeing him getting verbally beat u...

Well, the Governor, (a darling of Time Magazine) has signed the IT outsourcing agreement with Northrup-Grumman (that was the non news since he initiated the bidding).  But the story changes once again.  At first it was 1200 then it went to 2400 then to 7000 people affected.  The latest is now only about 900-950 that will be affected. The outsourcing has some really big plums (which makes me wonder how either Northrup is going to make money or the state is going to save money).&...

There is a case going through the Australian courts (not America this time) about a woman who was born blind and deaf, suing the doctor that failed to detect rubella in the mother 24 years ago.  She is suing for wrongful life! Actually, she is not suing as the story states she is not only blind and deaf, but mentally retarded and spastic.  So in actual fact, it is either some greedy lawyer or her parents (who cannot sue because the statute of limitations) that are in actual fact arg...

Yes!  Not Woodward of Bernstein, but little old me!  And it is insidious!  Worse than you can imagine!  And do you know who created this method? The Swedes!  Those peace loving people!  yea right! (They did invent dynamite too!).  So who wants to know the method!  I warn you now, those of the weak stomach, STOP READING! When we started preparing Gitmo for the terrorists, it had nothing!  So the GIs built the cells.  No big deal. Take some c...

Hugo Chavez, the paranoid leader of Venezuela, is trying to piss off as many leaders as he can.  IN the latest episode, he has insulted the Mexican President, and warned Vincente Fox to "not mess with me". This was precipitated by Fox and Mexico's support of a free trade zone for all the Americas, one that Chavez  opposes.  And in so doing, Chavez called Fox an American "puppy". The problem is that anyone with any degree of objectivity knows that to be completely false. ...

I recently penned an article where I opined that perhaps for cretins like the president of Iran, we need not use force, just circulate rumors.  And those rumors would then incite their followers to kill them. Well, Al Qaeda has done me one better.  They are actually following the president of Iran's advice and attacking fellow Muslims!  Why?  because there MAY have been (I understand that 1 American was among the dead) staying at the hotels they targeted.  Instead, th...
