In what can only be hoped is a sucessful implementation of the recent Supreme court ruling o Eminent Domain, a Developer is asking the city council of Weare, New Hampshire to take by right of eminent domain, Justice Souter's home and sell it to him so he can build a hotel! By all rights and logic used by the connecticut town to grab some poor schmucks homes, and then endorsed by the SCOTUS, this developer is seeking the same! One would hope that the other 4 justices also learn the val...

"a pretty monolithic party. They all behave the same. They all look the same. It's pretty much a white Christian party."  - Howard Dean Sounds like a pretty bigotted statement to me.  Substitute Pary for Race and Black for white, and it could be Sen Byrd. "I want a Democratic presidential candidate who can give a straight, unambiguous answer on Iraq." - Arianna Huffington So do the rest of us. “This group of neocons (neoconservatives) is involved in the mother of all s...

And you thought it was over!  So did I.  But the residents of the 37th senatorial district of Kentucky would beg to differ.  It seems that the person who got the most votes last November, might not have been a legal resident, so a judge tossed her victory out. But wait a minute!  The State Constitution says that an after the fact controversy on a victor, the Senate would decide who is the victor.  SO the republican Senate booted the loser and re-installed the victor. ...

The Supreme court ruled on 2 displays of the 10 commandments.  In one, they ruled that they could not be displayed in courthouses, except their own (as there is one on the Supreme Court).  In the other, they ruled the 10 commandments can be displayed on Government property. For most rational thinking people, this clearly is a set of decisions that cannot easily be explained.   And it goes to show how some just cant make up their mind on the legality of religious symbols in...

Dabe has done her penance, and while I dont think she is not going to slip up and do the foulmouth thing again, I do think she has learned a lesson.  One I hope she will carry for at least awhile. For all that know me, you know full well I am a dyed in the wool conservative and have less than 1% of beliefs in common with Dabe.  And yes, I have made fun of her.  But she seems to have learned part of the lesson, if not the whole lesson, and I think she will bite her tongue if you...

"Mares Picked to Manage Human Services Programs"--headline, Mail Tribune (Medford, Ore.), June 21 Just my Opinion, but wouldn't people know more than horses about Humans? "North Korean Leader Demands 'Respect' Before Committing to New Round of Nuclear Talks"--headline, Global Security Newswire, June 20 Queen of Sould to give Crash Course in R-E-S-P-E-C-T (that's what it means to me). "Man Shot at Federal Courthouse in Seattle"--headline, Reuters, June 20 Did he hit it? "Po...

Many have already heard about the decision of the Berkeley School Board to rename the Thomas Jefferson Elementary school because "Jefferson owned slaves".  So what name did they pick?  Sequoia! There is a little problem with that name however.  As a some have pointed out: Some community members have pointed out that under Chief Sequoia's leadership in the early 19th century, the Cherokee nation owned more than 1,500 black slaves. A spokesman for the Berkeley Unified School...

Much has been written of one of the worst decisions to be handed down by the US Supreme Court since Dred Scott.  Indeed, it appears that most people, Liberals and conservatives alike, are decrying the decision as just plain wrong and bad.  And those that are not decrying it usually fail to grasp the ramifications of the decision. The decision basically means if you can buy a governing body (pick a small one so you do not have to spend much money), you can have anyone's land you desi...

IN another blow to their facade, PETA has been shown to not be trying to adopt out abandoned pets, but to callously kill them.  They claim they were unable to find homes for these animals but it is clear they were not looking.  IN a study done, it was found that while the SPCA (a very worthy and noble organization) placed upwards of 85% of its wards, PETA only placed 14%.  That is scandalous if it had been done by a Daisy Mill Puppy Farm, much less by an organization that 'tal...

"Liberals saw the savagery of the 9/11 attacks and wanted to prepare indictments and offer therapy and understanding for our attackers, Conservatives saw the savagery of 9/11 and the attacks and prepared for war." "Conservatives saw what happened to us on 9/11 and said we will defeat our enemies. Liberals saw what happened to us and said we must understand our enemies." Both quotes are from the same source.  A biased one at that, but even biased people can speak the truth.

In the latest whackery from howlin Howie, he now thinks that Dick Durbin is a real big supporter of the troops! "A man who is willing to stand by our troops, a man who has fought for all that is right about America, Senator Dick Durbin, we thank you very much," Is Dean from this planet?  Or does he mean by this statement that calling our troops Nazis and stalinists is standing by them?  What country does he think we are in, 1930s Germany, or 40s Russia? The man with no bra...

I put this under humor cause it is so funny!  But it is true! Snapple, trying to take the world record for the largest popcycle from the Netherlands, created a 25-foot-tall, 171/2-ton frozen Kiwi-Strawberry treat!  and then tried to unveil it in NY City. Problem was, the thing melted, and sticky goo ran down the streets!  Ok, you got to ask why they did it on the first day of summer instead of in January? But my favorite part was the image of the blob: "What was unset...

Now I have heard everything! 'Experts' say that society is making it too hard on sex offenders!  Ahhhhhh, those poor souls! What a bunch of garbage!  Did they have pity or sympathy for their victims?  No way!  They are lukcy to be out of jail!  If they feel that picked on, they can go back to jail!  We will give them a free pass too just so that our children and relatives will be safe from these cancers of society. With all the victims of crime in our society,...
