Debate, and discuss, just dont Bore me.
Published on December 22, 2005 By Dr Guy In Entertainment

Over the past couple of days, several bloggers here about have royally trashed Kenny G.  Almost to the point of hanging him in effigy.

Am I weird?  I personally find his music very soothing and relaxing (I dont want to listen to it 24x7, but elected songs now and then sure are nice).

Am I the only one that likes Kenny G?  And if you dont like him, what dont you like about him?

Inquiring fans want to know!

Uh, you can keep Barry Manilow!

Ugh, his music almost puts me in a hyperglycemic coma it is so saccharine.

The music is just too boring for me. There really isn't any better way to put it. There is no variation in his style, every song sounds almost exactly the same. It is very soothing, but I rarely want to be so soothed I die . Also, I am not a big fan of the sound of a saxophone, especially his sissy little soprano sax. If he infused his music with more jazz elements I would find it much more interesting.

But that is okay Dr. Guy, I still like you, even though you like Kenny G.

AH!  The truth comes out!  I love the sax!  I guess that is why I like him!

I can't stand Kenny G (not a big fan of the sax either) but I love Yanni. Someone on one of these threads calmed them the death duo or something like that.

Everything is wrong with KG, but WHAT is wrong with Yanni??

I love Yanni!! I even went to a concert with my mom and sister to see him and it was great. I get made fun of whenever I mention I like him, but I don't think a lot of people give it a chance. Sure, Yanni himself might be a little on the wierd side, but the orchestra is amazing!

Sorry to get off topic.....Kenny G; I'm not a huge fan but I don't think his music is terrible. As you said, very soothing. Maybe it could be a little more upbeat.

Well, I guess it is fair.  I dont think I have heard Yanni!  But so far, we have one for, most against, and yours is eh?  Take or leave!

Kenny G's music is the soundtrack of hell. He's evil and must be stopped at all costs. Use of lethal force has been approved.

The problem that i have with him, Tesh, Yanni, and the unholiest of them all... Michael Bolton, is that they play such crappy, homogenized, elevator music. Very little creativity.
When i think of all the tremendous talent that never sees the light of day, but yet the airwaves are flooded with alledged "artists" such as those listed above it literally sickens me.

Whoa, wait a minute... Kenny G? Dr. G?? That's a little coincidental eh? ::

Whoa!  Wait a dag nab minute!  I am Dr Guy!  not Dr. G! (besides, he dont give me no money!).

But on a serious note, I notice you were very restrained in your critique.  You need to let the passion out, and say what you really mean.  using pastel words to describe a taste is just so bland.

Funny, that's exactly how I feel about his music. Why do I hate it? Let me count the ways. It's easy listening. Blech. It has no rythm worth mentioning. Blech. It's soprano sax. Blech. (although I did like it's use in Purple People Eater and Return of the Purple People eater)

He uses every cheesy trick in the book to turn potential music into syrup. Blech. Too smooth, too bland, too unctuous. Especially unctuous.Saying you like him for his music is like saying you like Ron Jeremy for his smooth, urbane sex appeal. Listening to him makes me have to vomit in my mouth. Just a little bit. Did I mention Blech?

Is that pastel enough for you?
