For almost the last 50 years, Virginia has been home to Bridge-Tunnels.  So many in fact that you almost cannot get out of Norfolk without going through one.  There is the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel, The Portsmouth Bridge Tunnel, the Monitor and Merrimac (the newest) Bridge Tunnel, and the crowning glory - the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel.  In all that time, there have been plenty of accidents.  Fools are found on every road, and some fatalities have resulted.  But thes...

We have a local talking head here in this city.  Needless to say, I have less than no respect for him after he decided to play Hitler speeches when Pope Benedict XVI was elevated and attributed those speeches to the newest pope.  I sent him a respectful, albeit very pointed email detailing my objection to his "joke".  He never responded.  Cowards never do. Now his latest is to BBQ the local rag.  Hey!  This rag has enough faults as it is!  You could walk to ...

Several weeks ago I opined that perhaps Bin Laden was really dead. Just an opinion, but based on the fact that his tapes (audio - no video) was late in commenting on recent events, and his number 2 (who might be number 0 if it was found out) was doing all the talking. Now comes another hint.  This one from the Washington Post (of course not revealing any secrets ala plame) that reports on the "get Bin Laden Brigade" at langley being disbanded. Of course this is not proof, but it is an...

No wonder the Shark has lasted for millions of years!  Wouldn't you if you had 55 offspring at a time?  Apparently the record Tigershark (one of the 3 species that likes homosapien meat without provocation) was a record cause she had 55 "pups" ready to hatch. Ok, I did not know baby sharks were pups.  They could have chosen a less cuddly term.  But my German Sheppard once had 11 pups  And one died since she only had 10 teats.  55?  I guess sharks got teats l...

I changed the headlines, but honestly dont think I will get any bites.  If Bush did say that, what would the liberals yell?  Well, we already know what they would yell. But Actually (if you click on the link), you will see that Putin said it.  And where are the liberals now?  The NY Times?  Howard Dean?  John Kerry? Babs Streisand? Want to bet that none rise up in arms over Putin's statement?  Want to bet a lot of liberals click on this link and then slin...

DOCTOR Susan Roberts, has weighed in on the Flag Burning Amendment.  In it she opines: It seems unlikely that the Supreme Court would now uphold an amendment prohibiting flag burning, even with the change in the court's composition. As the article notes, Dr. Roberts is: Dr. Susan Roberts is associate professor of political science at Davidson College. Political science?  She is teaching kids about the Politics of America and she is so woefully ignorant of how the...

One has to wonder.  The latest indication is Al Zawahri delivering the eulogy for Al Zarqawi.  Yet what struck me was this: Al-Zawahri, who is believed to be hiding in the mountains on the Pakistani-Afghan border, Which is the area that Bin laden was supposed to be in as well.  If Al Zawahri can get a tape out, why cant Bin Laden? And then there is also this: did not mention al-Zarqawi's successor, named by al-Qaida in Iraq as Abu Hamza al-Muhajer. The omission might...

I am linking the article, but not to discuss it.  I figure it will get enough discussion over there.  But as I was reading it, I started to wonder about something:   last month became the first of Australia's six states and two territories Ok, I know what the difference is here in the USA.  Territories get appointed leadership, and cannot vote in national elections.  But what is the difference in Oz?  And could Howard have done what he did in a state vs a...

Apparently the pendulum of idiocy has now swung in the complete opposite direction, with the MPAA decided that religion is not for young children.  They have slapped a PG rating on a football film because - it talks of faith and god and god forbid! Jesus! But of course talking about Johnny's 2 daddies or 2 mommies is fine for children as young as 5 or 6.  Yet Hollywood, which just recently rated Mel Gibson's "The Passion of the Christ" as the most controversial movie of all time, ha...

Is that not a great title!  But apparently the only source of the water in the dead Sea is the Jourdan river (carry me over the river Jourdan!).  And Syria, Israel and Jourdan (phew!  At least they are getting some of their own) are using more and more of the water before it reaches the Dead Sea.  So it is drying up to the tune of 3 feet (depth) per year.  But not to worry!  Scientists say as it gets more dead (salty), the rate of evaporation will decrease  Unt...

Apparently, since he can no longer cheat on Hillary (you have to have a marriage to do that), Clinton has decided to cheat at golf.  It kind of reminds me of the movie Mooseport.  Shame Bill's Ex is not like that President's ex.  But cheating playing Tiger Woods? "President Clinton rolls one in the bushes, then hits another one off the tee ... right in the middle of the fairway, hits a nice little wedge shot up there to about, I don't know, 6-7 feet. "I hit a bad pitch,...

A student at a school in Florida kicked a teacher's aide in the shins.  And for that she got jail time (in a juvenile jail - at least they did not put her in with the child molestors) and is being charged with battery and forced to take a counseling program. Ok, this is clearly a case of battery on an authority figure, so why is it under the heading of Zero Tolerance? For 2 reasons.  She is only 6 years old, and she is a special ed child!  And for that she is arrested? ...

Nifong, the racist DA in Durham, is trying to delay the trial of the Duke Lacrosse players for a year.  One must ask why.  But if one must ask, one does not understand when politics interferes with justice. The case is folding faster than a chaise lounge on steroids.  As new evidence is leaked out dribble by dribble, it is clear that there is no case.  No crime?  Only 4 people know that for sure.  But there is definitely no case.  And so Nifong is delaying t...

Jennifer Wilbanks, the famous 'runaway bride', has apparently been jilted.  Some may remember this story of the woman who ran away on her wedding day, faked a kidnapping and caused a massive manhunt for her.  She surfaced 3 days later in New Mexico.  At the time, she paid a fine for her antics, the cops let her off, and her boyfriend took her back.  And I thought he was stupid. Well, apparently not that stupid as he has now broken up with her.  John Mason, the jilted ...

The Duke Lacrosse case is falling apart.  Clearly to most, it is a case of a drunk woman charging racism where none exist.  But the DA, Nifong, has decided that his career is worth more than justice.  Not unique, but unfortunately all too common. The latest gotcha is that the cab driver, who has given a pass to one of the defendants has an outstanding warrant.  What is that warrant?  It seems that someone who hired him, tried to rob a convenience store, and then rode ...
