Nifong, the racist DA in Durham, is trying to delay the trial of the Duke Lacrosse players for a year. One must ask why. But if one must ask, one does not understand when politics interferes with justice.
The case is folding faster than a chaise lounge on steroids. As new evidence is leaked out dribble by dribble, it is clear that there is no case. No crime? Only 4 people know that for sure. But there is definitely no case. And so Nifong is delaying the case so the media furor can die down, and he can slink away with his new found office bought on the reputation of 3 innocent men. Yes Innocent. For they are until proven guilty, and that is never going to happen in this case.
The latest evidence says there was a DNA match! With her boyfriend! And that no toxicology report was ever filed! Shock! Did you really expect one? A toxicology report would have provided evidence of a date rape drug. Or drinking. But drinking would not further the DA non-case, and the lack of a date rape drug would blow it out of the water. So none is forthcoming.
47 students lost a year of their sport due to this allegation. 3 stand to lose a lot more, as the New Black Panthers and Jesse Jackson - the last bastion of legal racism in America - have decided facts, no facts, truth, no truth, these guys are going to burn. It reminds me of the lynch mobs in the early 20th century. Is this the new affirmative action? To some it is.
It is time for this farce to end. I sincerely hope that this time, they picked on the wrong people. Not that these guys are pure as anything, but because they and their families have deep pockets, and that means lawyers that are not going to let this go away until court day. I hope they do. And then sue the freaking city and the DA for all the costs for wrongful prosecution. And get back their money. They may have the money to fight this kangaroo court, but that does not mean they should pay for it. The idiots (citizens) of Durham who elected this clown, and the city itself should be shown that crime does not pay. Even when committed by those sworn to uphold the law.
