By now, every one who has not been living on a disappearing iceberg, knows about Obama and his run in with Joe the Plumber.  An average guy in almost every respect save one - he actually confronted Obama.  With why Obama was trying to deny him the American Dream.  Obama's response has become a rallying cry for republicans:   "I just want you to be clear – it’s not that I want to punish your success – I just want to make sure that everybody who is beh...

Back in the primaries, one of our esteemed fellow JU members wrote about a key primary in their state and how it was nice at first that they were getting attention, but not for long. Fast forward about 7 months.  ANd multiply by $600million!  This state has become the keystone state.  Several are said to be in play, but for some reason, the candidates see this one as the key state.  I really wish they did not.  While it is flattering (not really) to think that "our vo...

Hawaii Ending Universal Child Health Care After 7 Mos. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,439607,00.html Dateline: Honolulu Hawaii is dropping the only state universal child health care program in the country just seven months after it launched. Gov. Linda Lingle's administration cited budget shortfalls and other available health care options for eliminating funding for the program. A state official said families were dropping private coverage so their children would ...

Well, yesterday was a mile stone of sorts for my blood donation.  It represented my 13th gallon (official) since I have been donating.  I was a bit concerned that I would get a ditzy phlebotomist that woudl blow out my vein, but I was lucky.  The only problem was computer related (of course since that is my vocation!),and they cleared that up in about 10 minutes. Last month, they had a get together for all their "century" donors.  I was unable to attend since I was in Cali...

Unfortunate, and true.  Not the KKK type of hate or even the Skinhead type (that seems to be imported anyway).  But the lunatics of the left (tired disclaimer: Not all left or liberals are lunatics).  It seems the latest importer is Heather Mallick, some clown who has a column up above the 48th parallel.  And she just does no know how to have a calm rational discussion (or column apparently).  Not that it matters much, but it is sad to see people who live such miserable ...

In any election, since media became a factor, political campaigns have had negative ads.  Some worse than others (the Daisy Ad), and some just funny.  Most are just designed to show the shortcomings of the opponent, figuring (rightly or wrongly) that voters will not see the shortcomings without being lead to them. So who is the king of negative ads in this campaign?  If we ask the media, or the pundits, or the emotional "Wanna-bee" reporters, or even blogdom, I am sure we are g...

The latest controversy concerns a remark that Obama made about lipstick and pigs.  The republicans are of course feigning indignancy and claiming the comment was a slap at Sarah Palin - due both to her sex and her own self depreciating humor about Hockey moms.  If one squints hard enough, they can actually see the republicans point. But I dont think Obama even thought of the reference to Palin.  And that is what concerns me more. "Lipstick on a pig" is an old, country cliche.&n...

A week ago we were enlightened with the choice of John McCain of his VP pick - Sarah Palin.  While I for one am impressed with her credentials and her nomination, I am still not a McCain Palin supporter.  Although I am leaning in that direction.  I still have to get over the top of the ticket. Apparently many others do as well - or have decided to ignore it and focus on the lower half of the ticket. I have noticed that many democrats, Obama/Biden included, are somehow under ...

Or better, how to evade the issue of experience.  When Obama was asked a direct question on his experience, his answer was typically evaside:   Anderson Cooper: They in fact have said that Governor Palin has more executive experience, as mayor of a small town and as governor of a big state of Alaska. What's your response? Barak Obama: Well, you know, my understanding is, is that Governor Palin's town of Wasilla has, I think, 50 employees. We have got 2,500 in this campaig...

I saw death this past week.  Just briefly. He visited a friend.  A friend who welcomed him with open arms.  A friend who had lived a very good life, but at the end, was tired.  And sad.  Sad that he had cheated death long after all his friends had embraced the grim reaper. But it was not the grim reaper that came, but a welcome friend.  The last one he knew.  His life had been full, yet now it was empty.  All the people he had known were gone.  The...

Gene Upshaw passed away this week.  At the not old age of 63.  Gene and Art Shell were the core of the Raider Dynasty of the 60s and 70s.  One of the players that John Madden loves to talk about, because no one else notices them - the men in the trenches. Along with Art, a pro-bowler in his own rights and the Head Coach of the Raiders on 2 separate occassions, Gene dominated the game at this position and made the Raider left side an impenetrable wall to opposing players.  ...

Say what you will, alive or dead, Bin Laden has won.  In what can only be termed a capitulation to terrorism, Random House has pulled a book because it was not according to the Koran. The real sad part is all the people that have lost their lives to defend the spineless mealy mouthed losers who made the decision.  It may be the last free decision they are capable of making.

It has been a while since I posted anything other than a quick outrage at some insanity going on in the world.  That is not really bad.  I have had precious little time to read or post lately.  Not all due to work.  A lot of it due to personal life (as in it has been full). In the last 6 months, it seems I have lived a life time.  My mother was diagnosed with cancer, had a pneumonectomy, and is now doing very well.  Work has increased to the point that 60 hour ...

It seems the lunatic fringe of the democrat party has infiltrated the mainstream of the party.  NOw it is not good enough to demonstarate against people you dont like, you have to stalk them and their children!  Yes, Miek Gravel, lunatic extraordinaire, was caught on tape advocating just that.  And for what?  For a prosecutor who put away a terrorist! “Find out where he lives, find out where his kids go to school, find out where his office is, picket him all the tim...

Pedophelia is a truly horrendous crime.  It robs the innocence from the most trusting and innocent members of society.  There is no level in Dante's Inferno for Pedophiles as the crime itself is too horrofic for even his 7 circles.  Yet it exists.  No one denies that it exists and no one denies that we must prosecute the criminals to the fullest, and hopefully put them away so that they can never practice their perversion again. But we have gone too far.  To the point...
