Debate, and discuss, just dont Bore me.

A seemingly innocent news article today reveals the passing of an institution.  The US Military is sending the only remaining MASH (Mobile Army Surgical Hospital) to Pakistan to help with the Earthqake.  The 212 MASH.  The LAST ONE.  It seems that the army has come up with a new animal called a CASH (uh, oh!).  They say that the Combat Army Surgical Hospitals are more responsive than the MASH.  From the results in Iraq, I guess they are right.

But for those of us who lived through the Movie and Episodes of M*A*S*H, it is kind of sad to see that icon being retired.  I guess the Army just could not tolerate the hi-jinks of Hawkeye, BJ and Trapper John any longer.

Farewell, so long, good bye.

Combat Army Surgical Hospital

That would be another nice cause for donations employed by Alan B'Stard!

you forgot about Klinger

I was only using Nicknames, not their actual names.  So I did not list Potter, Blake, or Mulcahy either.

I remember a few years back when they closed the last remaining active MASH in Korea. That was a pretty emotional time for a lot of the people involved. Many of the stars from the show came out to Korea for the ceremony. It was a really nice event.

I guess I am glad I did not hear about that!  It would have been a sad occassion.  But I guess the new concept of the CASH is a better idea.  Just the name is very suspect!

One of my National Guard units was the 144th CSH (not sure if the Army added the A or the reporter did ;~D ). Apparently you can't be a MASH if you have a Forward Area Surgical Team (FAST) (basically an Operating Room in that amounts to a tool shed (CONEX for you military minded folks) and your company clerk neither sleeps with a teddy bear nor wore dresses at one time in his military career. ;~D

Glad the guys in the last MASH can be used to help the victims of the earthquakes. Even though they are "From the Government" and there to help, I know they'll give the people of Pakistan their best, afterall, those folks truly have been through enough!

I am just an ignorant civvie, so I trusted the reported (My bad I know!).  But how do you know the company clerk did not sleep with a teddy bear?

Who is Phil Silver?

The Original Sargent Bilko.  Plus he played a lot of other sleezy characters, like one of the guys in It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, World (one of Spencer Tracey's last films).  He always played the guy trying to work the angles.

I was the Assistant Signal Section Chief... The radio guys know everything going on in the unit... sometimes we knew way too much! ;~D
