Debate, and discuss, just dont Bore me.
Wanna know why?
Published on July 31, 2005 By Dr Guy In Blogging

Several members of late have stated they are going or thinking of it.  I know JU has had its problems, and I have been frustrated by them as well.  But given the price and the response, I am not going to complain.  I will pay when and if it becomes a premium site. But for now, I am hanging around.

Why?  Because of the people here.  I dont agree with half, and agree with the other half most of the time.  But I have learned about a lot of things from them, that have made me a better person.  Made me think and question some things, and made me relive old scars.

I am not looking forward to anyone leaving, but considering I have seen 2 posts and a comment in the last 3 days of people threatening to, I decided to state what might be obvious.  I am staying.  Warts, bugs and all.

I hope everyone does, but to each his own.  And thank you Brad, Cordelia, Karma T-man and all for giving us a great place to blog.  And thanks for all your hard work.

I hope others pull in their horns and stick around as well.

I clicked on this post of yours Dr. Guy cause I DID want to know why and I agree with you 100% about this being a great
place to blog.
I've come to appreciate and enjoy reading blogs by people I feel I know and am comfortable with.
I had considered leaving and even posted an article about it, maybe a month ?? ago?. I couldn't stand being away
from the regulars here though!!
Should this become a "paying" place, my fixed income wouldn't be able to cope with another bill. So then I'd have to leave.
I think we're getting an excellent service, free, and the "powers that be" work hard and can take pride in what they do

As someone who's only just got here, I'm not about to leave just yet. To my surprise I've found that I also have become hooked on the 'community' (or should I say 'soap opera') aspect of JU. After all, there aren't too many people who agree with my 'wishy-washy' militantly moderate opinions.

For me the strong conservative slant of the site (like the strong conservative slant of America) is a positive advantage. Of all the politcial persuasions it's the one I know least about. I've learnt things here, and even once or twice changed my mind

JU is an interesting place. Sure, there are some rough feuds here and some of the arguing is ruder and more robust than I'm strictly comfortable with. But if you take a look at what else is out there, this is a relatively civilised place with a warm-hearted welcome for most newcomers.

Best of all, what a mix! Everything from Gid's christian libertarianism to propoghandi's 'no-holds barred' homo-erotic verse, taking in politicos, skinners, cultural critics, crusaders and people who just want to tell you about their day.

So many reasons to stay...

This was important. Thanks for drawing it to attention. Irish voluntary collect system could answer that, at concerts they run around, who can gives, gives any amount, who cant cant. In a Rio de Janeiro bus, who is young enough to fit under the turnstile at the back door can pass conductor free, who is poor + grownup is allowed to symbolically make himself small enough to crawl underneath as well & do the same

I'll stay and enjoy all the best of what JU is. For my growing interest in template editing and skin designing, I will continue to blog at my other site also.

Ideal mix thanx

I sincerely hope you find a good internet connection!  You're one of the main reasons I like it here.  Most of us just dream of living on a S. Pacific Island.  You get to tell us how it is day in and day out!

Hey Frankenbelly, is it itching yet?

Glad you are going to be around to educate us on Buddhism.

Or a Satellite connection?

Brad has talked about goign with a premium service that would be pay for, but I think he would still have a free part.  Glad you are staying.  I am still reading about your early years and loving them!

However, of all other blog services I've tried or encountered, few had any sort of community at all... None encouraged the same caliber of community as here at JU.

I agree.  I have tried a few others, but grew bored of them after a short period.  I still have a couple of others, but this one is my bread and butter.
