Damn Skippy

Iran has been an anathema to the western world since Jimmy "Lust in my heart" Carter sold the Shaw down the proverbial river.  Instead of easing him out with a gradual transition to a secular democracy, he dumped him on his ass.

The latest president is somewhat suspect.  is he a Terrorist?  Or not.  Well, one person thinks he is:

"As soon as I saw his picture in the paper, I knew that was the bastard," said retired Army Col. Charles Scott, 73, a former hostage who lives in Jonesboro, Ga.

Ok, so one person says he is.  And for the LLL left, that ie hearsay and besides, he is from a red state.  But the plot thickens!

"He was one of the top two or three leaders," Col. Scott said in a telephone interview. "The new president of Iran is a terrorist." . . .

Donald Sharer, a retired Navy captain who was for a time a cellmate of Col. Scott at the Evin prison in northern Tehran, remembered Mr. Ahmadinejad as "a hard-liner, a cruel individual."

"I know he was an interrogator," said Capt. Sharer, now 64 and living in Bedford, Iowa. He said he was personally questioned by Mr. Ahmadinejad on one occasion but does not recall the subject of the interrogation.

Col. Scott recalled an incident when Mr. Ahmadinejad berated a friendly Iranian guard who had allowed the two Americans to visit another U.S. hostage in a neighboring cell. Col. Scott, who understands Farsi, said Mr. Ahmadinejad told the guard, "You shouldn't let these pigs out of their cells."

Hmmm, now we have 5 total and that total is rising!  Iran is of course denying it just as they denied they could do anything during Peanut Carter's tenure to reign in the terrorist.  Even tho this clown was well known before the election (mayor of Tehran), no one said a word.  For Diplomacy sake.

And as the Taliban and Al Qaeda streamed over the border to Iran, no one said a word or only half hearted ones.

And as Iran developes Nukes, the EU whispers "Bad Boy" and the US waits for them to step forward (a pathetic wish I know) and take this nuke bull by the horns.

Yesterday, London was hit.  The French and Germans may still pussy foot with the Iranis.  But somehow I dont think London is going to let the mad Mullahs and Terrorists (yes terrorists) of Tehran take another step.

bin Laden and Zarquawi are not persian, they are Arabs.  but they just shot a heart shot into Iran, another Muslim country.  And with each arrow that flies, they kill another golden goose along with hundreds of innocent civilians.

iran and Nukes now?  Not on those people's dead bodies.  Not unless you want to buy futures in Irani Glass.

I am behind, and since the report was posted (Washington times for those that want to trash the source), 3 more have come forward. 1 may be a mistake. 8?  I would not want to go to a jury with them odds!

this is so wrong i'm sorta at a loss where to begin. carter sold the shah down the river? after he allowed him to escape with his life and gave him asylum in the us (do you remember the first time you experienced a gas line? it was because carter didn't dump him palavi on his ass.)

the shah came to power when we helped him overthrow a secular democracy. after nearly 30 years of his corrupt tyranny--remember how much money the shah wasted on his lavish celebration of the 1000th anniversary of the peacock throne or some bullshit like that?--they foolishly alligned themselves behind the ayatollah in the vain hope he'd restore some sort of order.

It doesn't matter if they import Billy Graham and make him President. If one thin dime of Iranian govnernment money, or one millisecond of government labor goes into support and coordination for Hezbullah, then they are a terrorist state.

IMHO, anyone that can't sit down and have a reasonable conversation with Ariel Sharon on the grounds of anti-semitism and racial hatred doesn't deserve to be recognized as a world leader, and their rule should be considered illegitimate. That includes Wacky Jacky in France, as well.

the original assertions he was one of the mob who hijacked the us embassy was based on a photograph. the cia announced a week ago he wasn't the man in the picture.

iran wasn't denying it could reign in terrorists. it has happy to do so when reagan sent them missles, a cake and a bible--a practice normally referred to as caving or negotiating with terrorists.

as far as ahmadinejad being a well-known anything, you must have some great connections within iran. he was a dark horse candidate for mayor; until he made the run-off, everything i read about him gave him two chances of winning: slim and none. there's a good chance he really didn't win. but we all know how that kinda thing happens.

in case you haven't noticed, the iranians could give a shit about diplomacy so i doubt that's a motive in any of this.

of course iran is a terrorist state. that's the most amusing thing about dr guy's revelations here. like he's just now figuring that out?

it appears austria may have a solid case that ahmadinejad murdered at least one person in vienna some time ago.

ariel sharon has a history of being terminally unreasonable. he's very a poor choice for the rational leader benchmark.

WELL, I did say "on the grounds of anti-semitism and racial hatred." I understand that some people would refuse to sit down with him in the same way they'd refuse to sit down with Bush, but that isn't really what I'm talking to.

The leaders of Iran would be more worried about cooties and all the "Jew" rubbing off on them, I think. Call me Mistah Marginalize, but that's my opinion of them.

why is the eu responsible for taking the bull by the horns? what has the whitehouse been whispering to iran (or north korea) for that matter? notta damn thing substantial (unless cheney is threatening to stop helping them once he goes back to work at halliburton; he made quite the impassioned argument against the sanctions prior to joining the bush ticket in 2000).

last year i posted (as a comment i guess) an account of a iranian student gathering at which someone like ahmadinejad
promised the islamic revolutionaries that iran would soon have nuclear weapons and when they did they were gonna use em on anglo-saxons.

it's a good thing you've finally realizing just how dangerous iran can be.

here's a delightful lil tidbit from today's la times:

Former foes Iran and Iraq said Thursday that they would sign a military cooperation agreement that would include Iranian help in training Iraq's armed forces, despite likely U.S. opposition.

The agreement marks a breakthrough in relations between the two countries, which fought a bitter 1980-88 war. And it comes in spite of repeated U.S. accusations that Shiite Muslim Iran has undermined security in Iraq since Saddam Hussein's fall in 2003.

"It's a new chapter in our relations with Iraq. We will start wide defense cooperation," Iranian Defense Minister Ali Shamkhani said at a news conference with his visiting Iraqi counterpart, Saadoun Dulaimi.

"We're going to form some committees which will be involved in mine clearance, identifying those missing from the war and also … to help train, rebuild and modernize the Iraqi army."

Iran last year offered to train Iraqi border guards, but Iraq declined the offer. Relations have steadily improved since Iraq's Shiite majority sealed its political dominance in elections this year.

A large Iraqi government delegation, headed by Prime Minister Ibrahim Jafari, is to visit Tehran next week.

Dulaimi said Iran had offered $1 billion in aid to show its support for Iraq's quest for postwar recovery. He did not give further details.

Asked about possible U.S. opposition, Shamkhani said, "No one can prevent us from reaching an agreement."

true. and i agree on that basis.

while sharon is as dislikeable in his own unique way as bush, there are other reasons to snub him...one of them being the massacre he perpretrated just before his army left lebanon.

we gotta start jamming iran's tv airways so they can't watch 'the ali g show'. obviously they're taking his 'borat from kyrgyzstan' sketches way too seriously.

No, you are wrong.  IN all cases.  Carter dumped support for the shah cold turkey and left a vacuum that Khomeni (sp) filled.  I voted in 76, so I was very aware of what was going on.  You cant read history books to understand the times it was.  And the gas lines had nothing to do with Carter.  They were for the 6 days war in 73, and Nixon was president.  You dont know your history very well.
