Ah yes!  The AFI (American Film Institute) listed the top 100 quotes from movies since the talkies started.  I find it hard to argue with number 1, and number 2 is a strong one as well.

Some of the others are not so easy.  And some people are clamoring that there was too many left off the list.

I am curious as to what your top 10 lines of all time would be.  Do you agree with the AFI list, or have your own?

Inquiring minds want to know!

I saw the Movie Closer with Jude Law, Julia Roberts, and Clive Owen and he said this line that I thought was real cynical that I liked It went a little something like this;

Depressives don't. They want to be unhappy to confirm they're depressed. If they were happy they couldn't be depressed anymore. They'd have to go out into the world and live. Which can be depressing.

Have you killed anyone today?

Nope. But the day ain't over yet!

Name that movie.

City Slickers. Great comedy.

Correctomundo! Billy Crystal talking to Jack Palance. The second one comes from "Blazing Saddles". And is said by Gene Wilder.

I always Liked Jack palance.  Did not care a lot for that movie tho.  And the sequel really sucked.

One of my all time favourites that didn't make the list
It's 106 miles to Chicago, we've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

Blues Brothers?

How about this one....maybe not classic, but still a good quote:

Trautman: "Don't hate your country, John."
Rambo: "Hate? I'd die for it!"---"Rambo--First Blood part 2"

Or:

"But how---in the name of ZEUS'S BUTTHOLE---did you get out of your CELL?!"---"The Rock"

Or this one, also from "The Rock":

"Your best? Losers 'do their best'--winners go home and fuck the prom queen."
"Carla was the prom queen."

I "loved" those lines from the Rock! But then Connery is one of my favorite actors.

One I have been attatched to lately is "The Dude abides." from The Big Lebowski. Kind of a zen thing, gets me through the day.

Excellent choice. I don't see, though, how "Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You kill my father. Prepare to die!" didn't make it to the list (or any of a number of PB quotes; possibly "You've fallen victim to one of the classic blunders. The first rule is, never get involved in a land war in Asia. But only slightly less well known is never go up against a Sicilian when DEATH is on the line!")

I think we all agree that we dont agree with their 100.  But that is why some of my top 10 did not make their 100 either.

Thanks for your contributions.
