Yes, so the argument goes.  Some do not believe that a fetus (zygote/embryo) is a person.  Some do not.

In the end, this is not about those difference.  this is about LIFE.

Ok, so how many of you would sacrafice your child to prolong your life?

Show of hands please.

Ok, so how many of you would sacrafice my child's life to prolong your life?

Show of hands again.

So who wants my body?

That is what we are talking about.  I will not debate whether you are right or I am.  for to me, that is what you are asking.  Take my life.

I would much prefer mine to an innocent childs.

Would not you?

And also way off topic. Dharma, my position is clear. If you have not guessed it by now (by reading the kings english), dont throw it in my face until you do your homework.

Whoa....what the heck is that all about? Where did I disrespect your position? And what exactly am I throwing in your face? Jeez, all I did was ask a question.....and I did apologize for hijacking your thread.

I dunno what I did to piss you off so bad, DG, but whatever it was, I apologize. Damn.....

" One of the biggest problems with the death penalty is that mistakes are made."
- Dabe

Hold on....what about abortion? How many women have had an abortion, only to regret it later, and call it a mistake? I have known quite a few....

Dabe....I have a question for you:

Do you wish you were aborted? Because if you do not, then how presumptious you must be to believe that other babies would want to be aborted....

"Do you wish you were aborted? Because if you do not, then how presumptious you must be to believe that other babies would want to be aborted...."

Yet another moronic and specious argument. As if zygotes could wish, one way or the other.......

i was asking my question in reference to your statement about abortion, Dabe....keep up. And, you still did not answer my question.

"And, you still did not answer my question."

Yes, I did. Extrapolate. You already know the answer. And, again, it's a specious argument.

I get what you're saying DrGuy. To you an embryo is a baby no matter what people want to call it and deserves the right to live. And I respect that.
Unfortunately, there are people out there who, depending on their situtation (finance, health physical or mental, lifestyle, stupidity, whatever) cannot bring a child to the world, and granted some of them should have thought about it b4 conciving...
It's not an easy subject. I pray to God I'm never confronted with this dilemma one day.

If more effort is put into abstinence, protection, and etc... then abortion could be eliminated as an option...but thats wishful thinking considering the average human intellegence (no offense intended...to anyone)

"No, I'll avoid this slippery slope too, and I'm glad Bush is in office representing the majority view on this...my view, and the views of those who set him in office."

Actually, dubya is not representing the majority view, from what I've been reading. That's why Congress passed a law, which dubya will likely veto, and which Congress will likely override. I've heard that upwards of 80% of the population supports stem cell research, but maybe the majority you're referring to here is only here, at ju, which is no surprise whatsoever. I'll go look for links and cites for this.

As for avoiding slippery slopes, well that's tantamount to sticking your head in the sand. Life is full of slippery slopes and decisions to be made, and research to be funded. Progress does not come to a screeching halt because some people are afraid of "slippery slopes".

Slippery slopes to me is more akin to dictating what color house is acceptable, what kind of education is acceptable, and what religion from which to dictate all of the above, at the government level. Those are slippery slopes.

I appologize for the harshness and tone of my response.  I was not upset with you, but with people who kno no civil discourse, just who like to crap on other's blogs.
