Debate, and discuss, just dont Bore me.

One of our fellow bloggers asked the question "Where's the Whining?" in refernce to where was all the whining about the election that had occurred after the 2k, 2k2, and 2k4 elections.  Instead, within a couple of days, most of the close races that had democrats winning, the republicans graciuously conceded without putting up a fight and whining  about life being unfair.  Indeed, the last 2 senate races that got called were eligible for recounts, but neither of the losing senators asked for one.  They conceded.

But lo and behold, that blogger jumped the gun!  For indeed there has been winning and crying and bawling about stolen elections!  Oh, but wait, the blogger was right!  It is not the republicans doing it! Nope, It is the democrats, who cannot even be gracious in winning!  They are now trying to steal a seat that they narrowly lost in Florida!

Vern Buchanan beat Christine Jennings by fewer than 400 votes.  However, it only takes one vote to win, and he got that plus 300 odd.  Yet now they want to steal his seat charging (with no basis in fact or even any evidence) that he stole the election!  Yep, Karl Rove must have masterminded the theft of one house seat out of the 230 odd the democrats won!  That crafty Karl!

Even in victory, the democrats cannot be gracious.  Instead we have one Jerk-Elect being just that to the POTUS, and then a whiny baby in florida that cannot accept the fact that fewer people voted for her than her opponent.  In the latter case, maybe she should listen to herself and her party whine and cry and stamp their feet.  For then they would know why she lost.

One thing America does not like is a sore loser.  But what it detests is a boorish Winner.  And right now those are called democrats.

POTUS,

I've never heard that acronym before. It makes it sound like an insult. I like it.

"Geez, Dubya, why d'you gotta be such a freaking POTUS all the time?"

It is President of The United States.  Like SCOTUS is the Supreme court, VPOTUS - you know, and FLOTUS - First lady.

Well, I really don't see what is wrong with making sure the election was fair. Yes, I don't advocate whining, but...fair is fair, if it wasn't fair then it was not fair. I mean, jeez, there've been tons of reasons, and times where elections have been questioned, think about it: voting machine malfunction, Human error, dead voters, etc...

I'd say, let there be double checking of the election votes, not for just for those
reasons, but for the reasons/times we don't know about.

The point isn't that the voting results were questioned. The point is that several others that were eligible for recounts (the Allen/Web race in VA, for example) didn't. Why? Because the loser chose to be a gracious loser and accept the results of the original polling.

In every case that I've seen over the last 6 years, the ones doing the complaining about rigged elections or voting irregularities when they lost, were Democrats.

Even when Republicans lost, they had the grace to accept the results, even while looking into what happened with the irregularities reported. And in Virginia, there were a fair number of reported incidents. All of these could've allowed Allen to cry Foul! and have the results challenged. And it was his right, per VA law, to request a recount with the vote differential that we had. He chose not to. Can we say the same of some of the Democratic candidates?

I've even heard some grumbling from Democratic candidates (here in the Williamsburg/Hampton Roads area of VA) about vote counts - and THEY WON! Seems that winning by 10% of the vote wasn't enough for them. I wish I had transcripts of these, but they occured on the local radio stations during call ins.

Links? Proof?

And it is ANY candidates right when there are questioned elections. Just because they are of one party or another doesnt mean they don't have equal rights/opportunities.

The leftwings speciality is whining, they even whine when they win if the margin was to close.

Hey now.

Not all of us whine.

Excuse me? Did you read the link? About the 2 recounts, and what the democrats are demanding?

That was a stupid statement. So what is fair to the democrats? If they win it is fair? If they dont it is not fair?

Dont lie when you post your whine in the same thread. Either you are whining, or you did not read the article or link. Ignorant or whiner? Your choice.

First off, you assume it was a whine.

Secondly, I must not have seen that part. I admit, i skimmed the article.

My apologies for the mistake, skimming the article.

DrG...grow up, and quit being rude. This isn't a school yard where you can lash out and be an asshole. Act like an adult.

Well, if there are still questions that are unanswered by the recount...then do it again, and again...until the answers are known.

on Dec 04, 2006
Well my thought as an admited 'apparently rebublican Liberal' is that well. it WAS 300 hundred votes.. I CAN understand asking for 1, even 2 recounts.. But demands after that? if it comes out that close, and after 2 recounts you still lose, well tough it up and it's your loss.

I'm all for asking recounts in questionable situations like that. I admit I havn't read the article, but as long as the votes were recounted I don't care what stipulations the Demo's ask for we're stupid for asking them.. 2 Recounts and still not winning = us losing. Fact.

Fraus can occur, I don't doubt that. But we're to the point of paranoia of saying it happens all the time now...

MPost:

The problem is that 18,000 people in the district appear to have voted in every other race on Nov. 7th, but the Congressional one. This should raise red flags to anyone that there *may* have been a computer malfunction. I'm not saying there was or there wasn't--and because of electronic voting with no paper trail, there is no way to know.
on Dec 04, 2006
18,000? reall that's not that many people.. you have to realise that right?

Of millions of people, 18,000 only? that's only 1.8% (if you assume 1 million only) ... You gotta be kidding me that the number there is troubling??

(EDIT) My bad.. and I leave my false post to show my previous mistake.. I didn't read correctly... let me rephrase that... In a district I guess I can understand... but well.. truthfully things like that can happen.. if it only happens in one place, hell call it a fluke. It truthfully could happen that way
