Debate, and discuss, just dont Bore me.

I took my son Bowling today.  I have been bowling for about 40 years.  But today, this young whipper snapper beat me 2 out of 3 games!

He is finally starting to get the hang of bowling (less lobbing and more aiming).  And while none of the games were a blow out, he beat me!  Gone are the days when I had to stroke his ego!

Now he is just doing a victory dance and waiting for my wife to come home to crow about it!

"But...But....But.... My shoulder hurt!".  Suck it up old man!  That is just your age!

Yep!  I am getting old!  And now I need the handicap when we go bowling!

how revolting!

I know I'm not old but I sure felt it this weekend. We rented my nephew a bouncy boxing ring for his birthday. You'd be surprised just how tiring it can be to merely stand up in one of those things. After 6 bouts I needed a break.

I am way out of shape though.

Ok, I beleive that!  you are not old, just out of shape.

but me?  I spread 14 cubic yards of mulch (picked it up in the pick up, and then unloaded via shovel), so I know I cant use that excuse.  Besides, I tried.  and my son said "Dad, I helped you".  Cheeky kid!

Sucks to be you....my boys know they better never beat me at anything even when they can!

Training in the early years and all that.

You're not older you're getting better!  in other areas!  More experience,  the abillty to handle any given situation without even breaking a sweat or worrying about whether or not you know what to do.

It's a trade-off,  we get that knowledge that we can cope because we've been down that road!  Besides,  your wife will NEVER believe that you didn't throw the game!  She'll secretly believe, always,  that you lost on purpose!  Should get you extra attention

Heh, I know how you feel! I remember teaching my son how to play chess and my wife would whisper to me "can't you let him win every once in a while?" I always said NO! Because I wanted him to savor winning one day as something he earned. When he finally did win he was ecstatic! Now the nimrod beats me all the time...

I won't stroke your ego. Yep, you're getting old.

I actually had to have emergency surgery as a result of bowling several years ago.

Mason! didn't anyone ever tell you to respect your elders?

Doc, if it were me, I would have told him I let him beat me just so he'd feel better.

oh she will.....but we'll let her think otherwise. She is so in la la land. We'll let her be...for now.

I was a very young mom and I used to wrestle with the boys when they were little pinning them down and kissing them to death. They would laugh until they cried....or they would challenge me to an arm wrestle and I'd beat them every time. But when they got bigger and stronger, I didn't do those things mostly because I didn't want them to know they could whip me and when they'd ask, I'd just say...."I don't want to hurt you so we'd better not."

So when they were in their teens and I said I would whip their butt, they could never be sure. It's all about strategy and playing the mind games....

but it only works for so long. They beat me at everything now....except cribbage.

Doc, you just need more practice.

Your son might have beaten you 2 out of 3 but look on the bright side. At least you get the senior discount when you bowl.

(ducks) Just kidding just kidding (ducks again)
