It seems our dis learned friends over at the NY Times has decided that Democracy must be junked since it did not work! Yes, in addition to the link below, there was another Editorial (note for the dense, I did say editorial) on the same subject: http://www.nytimes.com/2006/01/30/international/middleeast/30diplo.html
Both are basically saying that because America did not get its way in the Palestine elections, that the whole idea of democracy should be junked! I can hear the sheep bleating now "Democracy for America Good - Democracy for others Bad". And to add insult to injury (their own self inflicted), they then pull a few rabbits out of the hat on the Iraqi. Lebanon, and Egyptian Elections!
Yes, the problem must be that Arabs are too stupid to self govern (at least that is their implication)! In their attempt to get Bush, instead they are not only insulting most Americans (the fringe left is exempted since they are not smart enough to know when they are being insulted), but most of the rest of the world as well.
How quickly those buffoons at the Grey Senile Lady forget that Adolph Hitler and Benito Mussolini were also duly elected. The expression "shit happens" comes to mind. We cannot guarantee St. Peter will be elected when a nation turns to democracy. We can Hope. But the right for a people to decide who will lead them, whether a good man or an evil one, is not a failure. I am sure even they want the best man, but sometimes voting against someone gets you someone worse. And to trash democracy just because you did not like who was elected is both stupid and childish.
But then I would not expect anything less from the NY Times.
