Debate, and discuss, just dont Bore me.

My Son and I just saw Hostel.  It was rated R.  It should have been NC17!  The only thing that may have (may have since the MPAA probably was to stupid to begin with) saved it from the higher rating was that it actually had a plot.  A stupid one, but it did have one.

I have seen Texas Chain Saw Masacre, Wolf Creek, and so many slasher movies that I am immune to them.  Or so I thought.  No, this one is worse!  It has no redeeming qualities!  Pure sadism!  That is what it is.  Pure Sadism.  And it does not even pretend otherwise.

I guess they made their money off of it.  But I give it 0 stars.  If you have seen it, I am sorry.  If you have not, dont!  it is not worth the ink on the money you would spend.

I didn't even consider seeing it because I can't handle that sort of stuff. Gore for gore's sake isn't my thing. I caught the very first part of Saw on cable the other night. That totally creeped me out and I a glad I didn't rent it or go see it at the theatre.

I like horror that leaves more to the imagination. I loved The Blair Witch because it reminded me of how we used to freak each other and ourselves out telling scary stories. Your imagination is far scarier than anything they can put on the screen.

I did read in Entertainment Weekly that people were actually throwing up at showings of Hostel. Was it that gory?

It actually was no more gory than many other movies.  What set this one apart was the sadism.  It is a sadistic movie.  As I stated, I have watched other 'gory' movies.  None affected me as much as this one did.  And I can only attribute that to the sadism that was the main theme of the movie.

It is a must miss for most people.

Dave and I saw it last week, and it affected me so much that I couldn't watch some scenes and hid my eyes and face in my sweater.

To be blunt, DG, it's a fucked up movie.  Fucked up in so may ways I don't even know where to begin....

Oh, and Dave says its only redeeming quality was the gratuitous nudity and sex.  Hehe...his masculinity is showing there.  I didn't think even those redeemed it.

To be blunt, you are right.  Wish I had read your review.  As for the gratuitous nudity and sex.  I will take playboy.

I told my son that I have not hidden my eyes since the Black Panther when I was 8.  I did today.  And that was just a spooky movie, not like this one.
