Debate, and discuss, just dont Bore me.

Recently, I have filled this space with numerous articles of the ignorance of democrat leaders on the Constitution.  It is getting so bad, I can almost start a "Ignorant Comment of the day" with their uttered stupidity.  And it just will not end.  Latest on the hit parade is Patrick Leahy who states:

Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., on Friday introduced a resolution saying Congress did not authorize the NSA program when it passed that 2001 resolution governing the use of military force in the War on Terror.

The problem is while he may not have voted on the language, as soon as he voted to authorize the president to wage the war on terror, he Authorized it!

I think the real problem is not their feigned ignorance, but what Peggy Noonan said just this past weekend in her editorial: http://www.opinionjournal.com/columnists/pnoonan/?id=110007835

I don't think Democrats understand that the Alito hearings were, for them, not a defeat but an actual disaster. The snarly tone the senators took with a man most Americans could look at and think, "He's like me," and the charges they made--You oppose women and minorities, you only like corporations and not the little guy--went nowhere. Once those charges would have taken flight, would have launched, found their target and knocked down any incoming Republican. Not any more. It's over.

They are still playing to something that no longer exists.  A willing sycophantic media that will not question their stupid and idiotic statements, but will dutifully report them to the mesmerized public that of course has no other place to go for their news.

But like Peggy says, Not any more.  And indeed, they just come off looking stupid and ignorant instead of stately and wise.  And the worst part is they refuse to learn!  This has not been a secret! Fox News has been around for many years, as has Rush Limbaugh.  But it is apparent from their feeble attempts to combat that with Air America and Al Gore's News Network that they totally fail to understand what has happened.  They are using the Ostrich defense!  If they bury their heads long enough and deep enough, then the bad men will go away.

And it is not working.  While some in the MSM tried to say it was Lindsey Graham that made Mrs. Alito cry, it was evident it was the democrats.  That is to all except the sheep and the 8 democrats on the committee.

They continue trying to use a playbook that long ago was outmoded!  CBS and Guardgate, Kennedy and his Debates, Kerry and his lies.

Sure, the editors of the Boston Globe, LA and NY Times, and Washington Post will bow at the altar of liberal spin, but even CNN realizes they have to report the truth, or be laughed out of the market! (albeit late since Fox already overtook them).

So instead of coming off as stately and knowledgeable, they come off as stupid and ignorant.  Where a lowly blogger like myself can stand up, and write an article where we basically say "Hey!  Did you really mean that?  Or did you mis-speak?  And if the former, are you really that stupid?".

And gain more credibility than they can ever hope to re-acquire.

Someone, a more left leaning member of JU, once asked me why I write so many articles Critical of the left.  I stated then it was because I could, they provide the material, and I comment on it.  But writing articles critical of the left is somewhat akin to fishing.  I love doing it, but I dont want the fish jumping into my boat!  It ruins the fun and challenge!

Just like how the left leadership keeps going to the podiatrist for the problems with their mouth.

You're just regurgitating the puke that comes out of republican media. There’s no critical thinking involved in your reasoning. You’re just looking for some loophole that would exonerate daddy Bush. Saying that Bush is above the law because Congress authorized the use of force is ridiculous. This whole “war on terror” is ridiculous. How the hell do you fight a war on an emotion? They monger fear because they benefit from it. The whole thing is just an excuse to abuse power and push the right wing agenda. If they were so dedicated to fighting terrorism, they would have caught bin Laden by now.

Is this you Col Klink?  This is not about Bush!  Are you just as dense as the Napoleans and Snowballs of your party?  You completely missed the point, and attacked the messenger!

What is it about you that makes you throw reasoning out the window?  This is not a Republican rah rah!  Yet you want to make it one. Can you read?  Or do you just bleat your response from your sheeple masters.

Look, this is open and honest.  Do not trash it again with your ignorance.  You want to comment, please do.  On the subject.  you want to pontificate on your pet peaves? use your own blog site.

Dont do this again.  Slam me on topic.  Do not pick your own agenda to slam me on that has nothing to do with the topic.

Could you please explain how Leahy's resolution exhibits a lack of knowledge of the Constitution?
on Jan 23, 2006
I listened to the full speech of the NSA Director, General Hayward, today. I would highly recommend the NSA's critics read the transcript carefully and completely. The authority under which the NSA formulated its approach to intercepting intelligence of interest dates from the early 1980's and was only modified after 9/11 to deal with the specific problem of enemy agents within the US communicating with conspirators outside the US. That gaping hole in our shield happened to be one of the principal reasons the 9/11 attacks were so breathtakingly successful.

I was impressed with the lucidity of Hayward's laying out of the facts, in contrast to the wild-ass rumormongering and assumption-jumping in the press. I hate to be a cynic, but Patrick Leahy pretending Congress didn't know what was going on is rather pathetic.

Cheers,
Daiwa

Who does the Constitution say has the power to declare war?

Who does the Constitution say is the Commander in Chief?

Where in the Constitution does it define how a war is to be waged?

It goes beyond that.  Over the past few weeks, the democrat leadership have displayed a gross lack of understanding of what is in the Constitution and what is not.  I fully understand that the average American is ignorant on what is in the Constitution, but then they are not making laws that affect a nation either.

I can do both, you just can't make a clear point in this case.

Now, Davad, you know perfectly well that Peggy Noonan is omniscient!
It's over. What it means is that Americans no longer give a damn about the little guy, minorities and women. America is in love with the power of the military-complex and corporations.

But I have, and if you have read it, then you do not accept it. That does not negate my point, it just states you do not want to admit it.

As a democrat, I understand that is your spin.  But that is not what she said, or meant.  What is clear, and she was not even being politically confrontational about it, is that the democrats can no longer rely on a monopoly in the MSM to spin their tones.  For there are alternate sources.  The democrats have to come to grips with that and learn to live with it.  So far, they have not.
