Recently, Lee1776 wrote an article that detailed some mighty stinky goings on with Rep William Jefferson, (D) La.  http://lee1776.joeuser.com/index.asp?AID=97905

In it, one of Jefferson's top aides got nailed for corruption.  I.e., they did not accept bribes, they demanded them! (at least no one demanded them of Abramoff).  Now comes the other shoe.

It seems that Mr. Jefferson is also head of the Congressional Black Caucus, and as such he was in charge of their relief fund for the victims of Katrina.  And after yelling at the Bush Administration for failing to act fast enough on the relief efforts, they sat on their little war chest for 4 months!  In fact it was not until someone started digging around about what had happened to the money donated to them for Katrina, that they all of a sudden found out "Shazaam!  We just donated $290,000 to COFFEE".

So who is COFFEE? It is the Community of Faith for Economic Empowerment.  Where did it come from?  It was created to administer WOW (With Ownership Wealth Initiative).  And who created WOW? William Jefferson!

The article calls this a "conflict of interest".  I think Jefferson just skimmed off a nice admin fee from the CBC and their Katrina fund.  Conflict?  Definitely.  Illegal?  Guess we are going to have to find out.  But it sure makes Jefferson look seedier than any other current member of congress.

Bark about Delay all you want, but delay did not pocket a cent.  This guy is swimming in ill gotten cash.

Interesting...

While the ghouls in the MSM are playing "press = participation" games against the supposedly "republican" problem of Abramoff, Rep. WIlliam Jefferson is openly stealing money earmarked for Hurricane Katrina Relief efforts? The head of the Congressional Black Caucus, stealing money right out of the pockets of those hit hardest by a natural disaster?

And the rooftops are left suspiciously unshouted from... WTG! Marc Morano and Monisha Bansal (CNSNews.com Staff). You succeed where EVERYONE in the MSM fails.

I think when this stink is brought to light, it will be the worst since Rostenkowski.  But of course the MSM (not the courts) will downplay it.
