Debate, and discuss, just dont Bore me.

Seems the left is taking a page from the PT Barnum playbook.  An eco organization wants you to "buy" a Terrapass.  Does this pass reduce pollution?  No.  Does this Pass help with Global Warming?  Nope. So what does this pass do?

Well, it gives a nice absolution to some liberal who is so concerned their Ford Explorer is going to kill some canaries.  And it gives a nice chunk of change to the group promoting the pass!  And that is all.

So run over to the web site and sign up for you Terrapass!  Go ahead and throw your filthy money away for some good old fashion warm fuzzies and a nifty sticker!  After all, we know that money is the root of all evil, and we have to protect the squirrels!

I wonder how many people actually fall for this latest Internet scam?  Probably enough to make the Nigerians very jealous!

There is a sucker born every minute!

For my Vehicle, they said I only had to pay $79.95.  Right!  IO am from the government and I am here to help you, and the check is in the mail!

I actually think the sentiment behind this is well placed, albeit niave. IMHO, the better thing to do would be to petition the government to start supporting research into developing alternative fuel sources and the technology required to use these fuels.

Or even setting up a "tax" that would be used for such research. (Of course after the tax would start, the money would find its way into the general fund and the research would be part of one of the later budget cuts, but that is government.)

Tsk, tsk,So run over to the web site and sign up for you Terrapass! Go ahead and throw your filthy money away for some good old fashion warm fuzzies and a nifty sticker! After all, we know that money is the root of all evil, and we have to protect the squirrels! It could be a scam but it seems legitimate and they are simply using a corporate ploy so that SUVs exist at the expense of economy cars' low mileage. Besides, squirrels and canaaries have a right to life, too.

But the tax would not stay that way, and that is why I will not support it.  However tax credits to car manufacturers that exceed certain standards (since the Government would not be getting the money), might work.

I am sorry for not making that clearer.  It is legal!  It is slick as goose spit.  That does not mean it is not a scam.

And the squirrells and canaries can have their life - just not on my dole.  Besides, why discriminate against racoons?

Because they wear masks and like to steal things. How ever, we should at least protect the groundhog. How are we suppose to know if we gonna have 6 more weeks of winter if he goes extint.

I say we should make a sticker and sell it to help save the ground hog and the slogan can be:

Save a groundhog so he can save you from 6 more weeks of winter.

I don't understand. You are suggesting settig up a tax? Huh? A private company has come up with an idea for people to balance out their egological footprint by purchasing a "pass" and the money funds clean energy research--I really don't see how you could have a problem with this. They aren't forcing anyone to buy one. Yes, some people will feel warm and fuzzy for having made the purchase--but I don't think that is the point. The point is that it's time to investing in alternative and you need a way to fund them. Someone thought of a way that does include tax dollars--I would have thought you'd be over the moon about this.

PS. Did you read their verification page? If not, you should: http://www.terrapass.com/verification.html

If you read through the article and responses, you would know that while in theory, that would be good, in practice it would suck.  Period.

We dont live in theory.  We live in practice.
