My wife forgot to deposit her check yesterday, so at 5:30, I headed to the bank to put the money in and get some out for her.  When I got to the bank, the line for the drive up was wrapped around the bank, so I just eased in line behind the last car, and listened to the radio.  I figured most people were more up on the holidays than my wife. I knew it was going to be several minutes before I got to the window, if I made it before 6 at all.

After a couple of minutes a lady came out of the bank with 2 plastic leis.  I was wondering if it was some sort of promotion.  But no, she came up to me and told me I was the last one who was going to get service, and to give the Teller the leigh so she would know I was last. It was 5:45, but I guess they knew we would not be at the window before 6pm (there were 2 lines, and a lei for each line).

So about 25 minutes later, I finally got to the window, but in my deposit slip and check and the lei into box and sent it shooting into the bank.  The Teller greeted me. I could tell she was tired.  She got the box, opened it, and Started pumping her fists into the air!  Thanking me the whole time!  She processed my transactions, and sent me the box back asking that I shoot it back to her when I was done, and thanking me again!

I did as I was asked.  But her gratitude made a mundane (and I consider a waste of time in these days) trip into a very uplifting one!  It really made my day to have made her day, and I was happy to be a part, small as it was, in lifting up someone's day!

Of course I did not look at the cars behind me as I drove off.  I figure I just pissed off the people behind me and did not make their day.

It truly is the little things in life that can bring warmth to our hearts and lift our spirits!

It's great when people recognize that and better yet when they acknowledge it!

A Positive Outlook!

Doc what a wonderful way to see the experience. I would no doubt be in one of the cars overheating behind you...and need my check cashed to pay for the tow truck I couldn't afford.....

It really is the little things.  An unexpected thank you.  A Hello from someone you have not heard from before (got one of those 2 weeks ago).  That is why when I do call customer support and get a good person and great help, I always ask to speak to their supervisor to let them know.  You would be surprised how many times my commendation of the person is met with dead air, and then a "uh, thank you".

I did feel bad for them, but they dropped in line behind me at 5:55, with a line.  I really did not expect to make it to the window before 6 (and I did not), but then when she gave me a lei, I realized I had just squeaked in.  After letting another car cut in front (he tried to go inside and then realized that only the windows were open - so he was in front of me).
