Debate, and discuss, just dont Bore me.

The New Orleans Saints got their name from the Dixieland Song 'When the Saints go Marching in'.  As New Orleans is renown for its Jazz and Dixieland music, it had a nice ring to it (the former Basketball team was the New Orleans Jazz - get the pattern?).  So no one really complained or yelled about it being derogatory to Saints who no longer could defend themselves or speak up for themselves in the press. Since by Definition, you have to be dead to be a saint.

Now the NFL is talking about moving them to LA if New Orleans cant get their act together.  Indeed, given past history of the administration in New Orleans and Louisiana, I would not bet they are going to make it.  So , probably, but not definitely, the Saints are moving.

But can anyone see the Los Angeles Saints?  I mean this is the sin city second only to Las Vegas (it does have Hollywood after all).  While the Lakers move was ok, because LA and Lakers kind of go together, and Arizona and Cardinals do not an oxymoron make, Saints and LA sure sounds like it does!

So if they do move, do we have a Contest to rename the team?  I hope so!  I kind of like the LA Quakes!  now that has Oomph!

Being from L.A., I'm going to ignore that. Grrr.

I have a better idea. Give us back the Rams, and send the Saints to St. Louis.

By the way, "Los Angeles" means "The Angels."

"The Angels' Saints" has a nice ring to it, no?

Having lived there, it may not be a sin, but it still stinks!

And that is a good idea.  St. Louis Saints has a ring to it.  But after they dumped you, would you be willing to take them back? (The Rams)

El Pueblo de Nuestra Senora la Reina de los Angeles de Poriuncula  - Which means "The Town of Our Senora Reina of Los Angeles of Poriuncula".

But you raise an excellent point.  So the Anaheim Angels, who just changed their name to the Los Angeles Angels, are really The Angels Angels?

I would. The Rams belong in L.A. -- a sentiment I've heard expressed on many occasions. I can't speak for the whole city, of course, but there's a ton of people who would welcome back even the Raiders, and Georgia Frontiere (as much as I dislike her) couldn't conceive the type of screwing Al Davis gave us.

And I bet Brooklyn would take back the Dodgers, too.

The Angels Angels?

It grates on my nerves every time I hear it. *SHIVER*

The Raiders were not the Raiders outside of Oakland.  The City made the team as much as Al Davis did.

I agree (and that's how we feel about the Rams!), but it doesn't stop people from regularly floating that balloon.

They are desperate!
