Debate, and discuss, just dont Bore me.

Much has been said about her and why Bush selected her.  While I cannot read the mind of Bush, I will make a prediction.  Should it come true, I will change the audience of this article.  If not, I guess I will delete it.

I think the reason that he picked Meirs is because the right, not the left, was telling him to stay away from Alberto Gonzales.  While I dont think he is actually planning on Meirs failing, I thin there is a good chance she will, especially in light of the opposition on the right (and he can count on enough democrats to oppose her).  Once she fails, he will then nominate Gonzales as his real choice and the conservatives will not oppose him (grumbling so).  Most of the democrats will, but they do not have the votes to stop him.

If I am right, it will truly be a masterful stroke!  If not, I guess I just read too much into Bush.

Ok, so I get about a 50% on this one.  Miers is out, but Gonzales did not get it.  HOwever, I stick by my contention that he never expected Miers to succeed, and she was just a feint so that he could get a real conservative in there, and the fight would not be as intense.

It has occurred to me, also, that maybe he's been "misunderestimated" yet again. That the Miers pick was just the opening move to galvanizing the conservatives to get behind his real choice. Given her devotion to the Pres, I can envision Miers playing her part in such a scenario. I have to say that's probably not the case, but such a train of thought would be no problem for the DU'ers to get their inflated brains around.

Senate Democrats already coming out against experienced judge; GOP solid in praise for nominee

That is in complete agreement with what I said.

Actually, sometimes they get their brains around the right way.  I agree with you.  I blew it on the nominee, but as you see from the Fox headline Above (Sorry I did not Attribute it before), It does appear to be working.
