Most people know that while the Wright Brothers flew in North Carolina, they lived in Ohio.  And most people know that the first American that orbited the earth was from Ohio.  And that the first man to set foot on the moon was from Ohio.

What I want to know is why is everyone so desperate to get out of Ohio?

Haha...i wanted to get out because it was all I knew. I was ready to move on. When I first moved to NY, I longed to go back and see the state I once so desperately despised. Now I just look back and think that hey, it wasnt as bad as I made it out to be.

You can take the girl out of Ohio, but you cant take Ohio out of the girl.

Go Bucks, Go Browns, and Go Indians.

Because Cedar Point is great, but it doesn't leave much for you to do from September to April. ;~D

I never got there when I lived there, but everyone talked about it like it was Disneyland.

Yeah don't hold your breath.

Ohio is awesome. I've lived in 10 states and Ohio ranks up there at the top.

The big cities on the rivers have FREE festivals all summer long. Cincinnati has WEBN fireworks every August and that is an awesome time!! Columbus has free laser light shows and musical groups on the river too. You get enough snow in the winter usually to sled, the fall is as beautiful as any New England folliage I've ever seen.

There is theatre here, from professional all the way to the local block shop. Orchestras, education, industry, city or country, anything you could possible want or need is all in this great state.

Kings Island and Cedar Point are nice too.

The only thing negative about it for me is the winters are a bit too cold...and wet. But ya can't win them all. Oh and the taxes. Ohio taxes everything, city tax, county tax, property tax, state tax, sales tax, income tax, on and on....

That's my take anyway.

Guess you did not read my last comment.  I went to the University of Dayton.  Does that count?

And as for PSU, I hope so!  I hate the Buckeyes.  Ever since the Woody Hayes days!

But when the wind comes whistling down the Miami Valley, it will freeze your balls in a heart beat!

I dont hate Ohio.  My only Beef was that Trees are an endangered species!

It's always fun when OSU plays PSU... My dad is a Prof at PSU, but got his PhD at OSU. He loved Hayes, but hated Cooper with an absolute passion.

Something else that is fun is the OSU/Mich. game.... Mom roots for Michigan

If we can pull off a victory, or even a relatively close game, I think PSU will have a top-10 finish this year. This is the first time we're ranked in like 5 years now too.

And OH is over-taxed at every level? And here I thought it was a red state (Just had to get that one in)

Wow I don't know where you lived, but Dayton has an abundance of trees now.

I live in Beavercreek and it is very "green."

As for the cold, it's not as cold as interior Alaska so I am not complaining! At least here I can bundle up and go outside and see the sun (ok the overcast sky) in the winter.

Football is practically a religion in this area, so I do like the Buckeyes just because the games are so fun. But I am a UK basketball fan. Not because I am into basketball a lot but because so many of my family have gone there its like a family tradition.

It is the only state I have worked in that had a local tax......... (and 3.2 beer!)

!!! Colorado had 3.2 when I lived there. And the drinking age was 18 for it.

Guess making them endangered helped?

Do you know where the old NCR building was?  Just up the hill from there.  Since it burned down in 75, you might not know about it.

That dates you! (the 18, not the state)

Oh, I would go to Cedar Point 100 times before I'd go to Disneyland (or world) again. 15 Roller Coasters!!!
