Debate, and discuss, just dont Bore me.

This is so sad, yet so very true.  These are the words of a black man, who laments what is happening, to blacks.  Sadder still is that the NAACP and liberals alike shun him because he does not toe their line.

Say a hurricane is about to destroy the city you live in. Two questions:

What would you do?

What would you do if you were black?

Sadly, the two questions don't have the same answer.

To the first: Most of us would take our families out of that city quickly to protect them from danger. Then, able-bodied men would return to help others in need, as wives and others cared for children, elderly, infirm and the like.

For better or worse, Hurricane Katrina has told us the answer to the second question. If you're black and a hurricane is about to destroy your city, then you'll probably wait for the government to save you.

This was not always the case. Prior to 40 years ago, such a pathetic performance by the black community in a time of crisis would have been inconceivable. The first response would have come from black men. They would take care of their families, bring them to safety, and then help the rest of the community. Then local government would come in.

No longer. When 75 percent of New Orleans residents had left the city, it was primarily immoral, welfare-pampered blacks that stayed behind and waited for the government to bail them out. This, as we know, did not turn out good results.

Enter Jesse Jackson and Louis Farrakhan. Jackson and Farrakhan laid blame on "racist" President Bush. Farrakhan actually proposed the idea that the government blew up a levee so as to kill blacks and save whites. The two demanded massive governmental spending to rebuild New Orleans, above and beyond the federal government's proposed $60 billion. Not only that, these two were positioning themselves as the gatekeepers to supervise the dispersion of funds. Perfect: Two of the most dishonest elite blacks in America, "overseeing" billions of dollars. I wonder where that money will end up.

Of course, if these two were really serious about laying blame on government, they should blame the local one. Responsibility to perform – legally and practically – fell first on the mayor of New Orleans. We are now all familiar with Mayor Ray Nagin – the black Democrat who likes to yell at President Bush for failing to do Nagin's job. The facts, unfortunately, do not support Nagin's wailing. As the Washington Times puts it, "recent reports show [Nagin] failed to follow through on his own city's emergency-response plan, which acknowledged that thousands of the city's poorest residents would have no way to evacuate the city."

One wonders how there was "no way" for these people to evacuate the city. We have photographic evidence telling us otherwise. You've probably seen it by now – the photo showing 200 parked school buses, unused and underwater. How much planning does it require to put people on a bus and leave town, Mayor Nagin?

Instead of doing the obvious, Mayor Nagin (with no positive contribution from Democratic Gov. Kathleen Blanco, the other major leader vested with responsibility to address the hurricane disaster) loaded remaining New Orleans residents into the Superdome and the city's convention center. We know how that plan turned out.

About five years ago, in a debate before the National Association of Black Journalists, I stated that if whites were to just leave the United States and let blacks run the country, they would turn America into a ghetto within 10 years. The audience, shall we say, disagreed with me strongly. Now I have to disagree with me. I gave blacks too much credit. It took a mere three days for blacks to turn the Superdome and the convention center into ghettos, rampant with theft, rape and murder.

President Bush is not to blame for the rampant immorality of blacks. Had New Orleans' black community taken action, most would have been out of harm's way. But most were too lazy, immoral and trifling to do anything productive for themselves.

All Americans must tell blacks this truth. It was blacks' moral poverty – not their material poverty – that cost them dearly in New Orleans. Farrakhan, Jackson, and other race hustlers are to be repudiated – they will only perpetuate this problem by stirring up hatred and applauding moral corruption. New Orleans, to the extent it is to be rebuilt, should be remade into a dependency-free, morally strong city where corruption is opposed and success is applauded. Blacks are obligated to help themselves and not depend on the government to care for them. We are all obligated to tell them so.

It is not the klan or conservatives doing this to blacks.  It is the black leadership and the liberal leadership that are doing it to them. So who is more effective at destroying blacks?  the KKK or the LLL?

my Dad sent this to me today...and he is a Michael Moore believing Democrat-for-life!!

Good read....and one i agree whole-heartedly.

I have spent much time with blacks....i lived among them growing up as a kid. I watched as they turned an apartment complex given solely to them into a trashed and run down shell of a building....in less than 1 year. I know that the neighborhood I grew up in, once the blacks started moving in, turned into a drug-infested rat-hole over the course of less than 10 years.

I know that there are good blacks....just as there are bad whites.....and I have seen both. But...it always seems to me, that the good blacks are much less apparent.

Am I racist? I don't think so....I hate all ppl equally

That sounds like a conflict.  How is he a MM Demo and willing to read this man's work?

Neither.

They themselves cause of the majority of their own problems.

Why?  People are not suicidal by nature.  No, they are cultivated to be that way, and the question is, who is doing the cultivating.

Those are some powerful sentiments he's got there. Sadly, they're all true.

Excellent article.

Sorry, the able bodied men had nowhere to return from; they were waving white T-shirts from the roofs of their houses.... pitiful.

40 years ago woulda been 1965. i dunno if the rev peterson was alive then. if so, he's possibly suffering from early onset senility or else a bad case of selective memory syndrome. the most likely outcome of a similar event in 1965 would have been that local, state and federal government agencies would have deliberately done as little as possible to help --as opposed to doing nothing as the result of negligence.

I gave blacks too much credit. It took a mere three days for blacks to turn the Superdome and the convention center into ghettos, rampant with theft, rape and murder.

i cannot find the date this was first published (or broadcast). it had to have been after september 2nd. if it was more than a day or two afterwards, he did NOT give blacks too much--or even enough--credit; instead he did as much damage as anyone else who repeated hyped up rumors about the convention center and superdome.

It was blacks' moral poverty – not their material poverty – that cost them dearly in New Orleans

yeah and it was pakistan's moral poverty that caused the earthquake over the weekend.

I saw the mentality quite often in my EMS and Disaster relief experience. I've even written about it in my blog at times. We knew within minutes what kind of neighborhood we were supporting, not by skin color, but by how many people came out up to our trucks to help unload.

In some neighborhoods, we had to clear the streets of people ready, willing and able to help us help them... in other neighborhoods we not only had to unload the trucks ourselves (which safety regulations required anyway), but we were met with people yelling from their yards, "hey, can you bring some of that over here!" When it became obvious to them that we were setting everything in central areas, seperated by item, instead of smiles and "thank you"s we were met with yelling, name calling and even threats.

People get used to someone else taking care of them, or they get used to taking care of themselves. In situations where taking care of themselves is no longer an option, they accept the help they need, and leave with a thank you. Those who have gotten used to being taken care of expect it to continue, no matter what.

To offer a helping hand is a great thing to do... to offer so much help they no longer have to do for themselves, is dehumanizing.

It does not have to be that way. But until we get rid of the leeches that call themselves black leaders, nothing will change.

I thought that we should hear a man who is saddened by what the black leaders (note not his leaders) are doing to the black man.

it is a metaphor for what happened.  He is basically saying that there are none.  The Absense of black men in the lives of black families is part of the problem.

Parents are like that.  I quit trying to figure out my mother a long time ago.

I wish he could see this and debate you himself.  All I will say is that again you are attacking the messenger and ignoring the message.

And O, BTW.  In 1965?  Can you quote the statisitics on fatherless homes from that year?  Not all answers lay in government assistance.

People get used to someone else taking care of them,

And when they do, they become victims, and not volunteers.
