Ah, we have another example of a surly folk immigrating to a new land, and wanting the natives to change their way of life to suit the immigrants. But this time, it is the Civil War part II.
Seems some uppity Yankees don't like the term Dixie. Seems they say it reminds them of Slavery and the lost cause of the south during the War of Northern Aggression!
A county just north of here has been celebrating "Dixie Days" for quite a few years. This is not (contrary to the people who see racism behind every southerner's smile) about slavery, The KKK or anything to do with anything except the heritage of the residents and remembering one of the bloody battles that took place in that county. And all was peaceful for the longest time.
But like most of Suburbia, Hanover county is now the place to live while you work in the *Gasp* City of Richmond! So the northerners that flocked down to Virginia for a job (since they cant keep them up north apparently) now want the county to change their traditions to suit their wants as they see them , being from the bastion of open mindedness and acceptance (BIG NOT).
As a Southern Man, I invite all Yankees and others from out of region to come and enjoy our hospitality. You will find that we are very warm and accepting of those not blessed to be born southern (Our Motto - Better to live in the South as we will assimilate you).
But unless you got some brats on the end of that stick of wood in your eye, leave the chips on the border, not on your shoulder. You know that road that brought you here? The big one, I-95. It goes north as well. And if you don't like our way of life, take it. We don't want you either.
Seems the only ones afraid of history are those trying to change it to their own PC version.
