In Vietnam:> The life expectancy of an American machine gunner was 7.5 sec after a firefight began. The cold statistics that measured a second lieutenant's combat life expectancy in minutes and seconds, not hours. USAF ParaRescue, who's life expectancy in Vietnam was often measured in seconds after insertion for pilot rescue missions.

Of course these statistics are about people who served as American soldiers in Vietnam - John Kerry was a volunteer.

no accounts are necessary to count out the days he served during his two terms. you know the time he spent during his 2nd term was longer than 120 days. more than that, however, by deliberately denying his service aboard the gridley, you're insulting the entire crew with whom he sailed.

Apparently you did not read either the link, or my blog, short as it is.

I insult no one.  Seems that job has been taken by Kerry himself.

Since Kerry was Navy, I am not sure how that relates.

How long does it farking take?

Until everybody has forgotten about it. Remember he tried to distance himself from his anti-war activities and sweep it under the rug for years when that benefited him. I think he is just hoping this will disappear. It took a Presidential election to remind the general public IMO what type of opportunistic slime ball Politician he is and Officer he was. P.S. and I have room to talk.

Why are we arguing about the value of Kerry's service? The article was about his stalling when asked to produce his 180 form, is it not?

Sure, Dr G.'s title was tongue in cheek, but let's stick to the issue. Bush bared his, time for a peek at Kerry's already. How long does it farking take?

I am nothing if not sarcastic.

I agree that he is waiting for it to disappear.  But what he fails to understand is that while CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC and the NY Times wont bring it up, many others will.  It is not going to work this time.

The hilarious part of the whole 2004 election cycle was seeing liberals praising the Vietnam War as Service to the country, and trying to cover up the actions of one of the most vocal war protesters! That whiplash must have caused all sorts of brain slosh. ;~D

he did serve his country in time of war

No one is faulting him for that.

I give any and all veterans praise and thanks for their service. When one of them comes back and degrades his and his fellow's service in that war as immoral and illegal and throws away his medals, then tries 30-odd years later to cash in on that service to get elected....well, piss on him and his 180 form, which I'm sure is full of things he'd be hard-pressed to explain away.

Kerry's Vietnam War record is no more, or less, relevant than George W. Bush's National Guard service.

BUT...he DID make the promise to sign the 180...such a fundamental promise, so willingly broken, makes one naturally wonder how many he'd have broken as commander in chief.

Has it occurred to anyone here that 180 is also the number of degrees Kerry's stance on Vietnam took when he was running for president? Just an observation.......

Very true.

Psst.  Wanna know a secret?  He still has not signed it!  He only authorized a limited release of records to the Globe.  No 180 yet!

It also makes one wonder what is in there that is so embarassing.
