It will be interesting to see how the talking heads treat the announcement.

Interesting stuff. What's strange though, and maybe chalk it up to mass communication these days, but the year 2012 is mentioned in several sources. If memory serves, the Mayan Calendar, and also in the "Bible Code" showcased on recent History Channel specials. Got any links to that donParsec?

This is SO stupid. Ratzinger has not been pope for even 24 hours now, and we are busy talking about his death

They just ran a news article on the radio that talked about how fragile his health is. yea, we be ghouls.

I think Star Trek used that year for WWIII as well.

I find it odd that this is one of the very first things to come from the new pope.

I have a feeling the "enforcer" will not shy away from confrontation either....

That is 2 years old.  he has already given his first vision.  Try again, or better yet, do the 50 style duck and cover.

Stick you head between your knees and kiss your ass goodbye.

Ever the sweet-talking-doctor[STD], your bedside manner is exceptional!

But chronological differences aside this is one fellow that could have huge swings of conservative worshippers in the proper setting. He has a fan club already. I think his views on intervention will either make or break his popularity in the west. Considering his associate member status in the French Academy of Moral and Political Sciences - he'll be a politically charged pope.

Anyone can write anything they want to about the Pope, but like a poop chute, those writings deliver the same product.  Only time will tell.  The nice thing about the Pope and the Catholic Church is you dont have to pay attention to either if you dont want to.  It is this little thing that God gave us called Free Will.

Prior to 2000 they were claiming Nostradamus was predicting Armageddon for before the new millennium. Then a guy wrote a book insisting Nostradamus said World War III would begin in 2002. Now they claim it will happen soon and be over by 2012. When that doesn't happen they will find a new date. Blech.

It's all B.S.

For anybody that still puts any weight in the bablings of Nostradamus, please read "The Mask of Nostradamus" by James Randi. He does a bloody good job of debunking the old faker.

If someone was going to write a book debunking him, I would have Guessed James Randi.  He is very good at that stuff.

As far as the Koran saying that the US will be wiped out, it also says REPEATEDLY to follow the scriptures. Look up 'scriptures' in the dictionary. And where does it say that the US would be wiped out by a tidal wave?
