Yeah, maybe. But Nostradamus IS cryptic most of the time

was the 111th pope assassinated in Italy?

Cant say right now, the pope place is hosed up (understandably).

'Well, Allah has already predicted that a tidal wave would wipe out the US in 2007..'

Osama?

P.S. How do you quote text? I'm not able to do so even after clicking the Q button 5 or 6 times

It was a muslim scholar who said that Allah was going to wipe out the US with a Tidal wave according to the Koran.  Osama has not said anything to my knowledge.

As for the quotes, I could not use that with Netscape either.  So if you cant use the quote buttons, just use the tags [ quote] [ /quote] and cut and paste the text between them.

I am kinda glad that we're finally running out of "end of the world" prophesies. Hopefully once we pass the next two popes (and the 2012 end mark in the Malachy Prophecy) this will all be put to rest and we can finally silence the loonys who constantly cry "The End is Near!"

Nah, they will just say they miscalculated and the end is still near!

heh, the Malachy Prophecy so far is the best one I've read. In interesting ways they've tied every pope since Innocent II to the list, in some cases it's just uncanny. It's the only real specific and detailed "End of Times" sort of prophecy out there that holds any weight at all.

111th Pope in Malachy's Prophecy would be from the Benedictine Order (though this was not an original part of the prophecy but added by St. Benedict later) and was given the title "Gloria Olivae" (The Glory of the Olive... this IS from the original Prophecy).

So Ratzinger picked up Benedict as his name, score one for the end-of-the-world nuts, but that's not part of the original prophecy. Not sure yet how they'll tie him to "Gloria Olivae" yet though. Should be interesting. 112 is going to be Peter the Roman and he will see the destruction of Rome and the End of Times. The time of the 112th Pope is supposed to be a time of great persecution of Catholics, the fall of Rome and finally Judgement Day.

Since this is a known prophecy to the Church, I wonder how much it affects the selection of Popes. Seems pretty amusing that Ratzinger would pick the name Benedict XVI with it known that the (ammended) prophecy calls for his number in the sequence to be from the order of Benedict. Is the church determining events to try and fit to this prophecy, in an attempt to go "The end is near! COnvert and be saved!" to try and drum up numbers?

I think one of the links from Don linked the Olive part by something Pope Benedict XVI said. They are that quick!

May the new Pope be guided by the same wisdom and love that Pope John Paul had. May he live a long and healthy life and lets all eat eggs Benedict in his honour tomorrow morning

Zoomba--doesn't the Malachy prophesy predict the end of the church, not the end of the world? I haven't actually read it, just going by word of mouth.

I heard about this a little after I read this article. I wish the new pope luck, even if he is just a 'caretaker' pope like some are speculating.

This is SO stupid. Ratzinger has not been pope for even 24 hours now, and we are busy talking about his death

May he live a long and healthy life

I wish the new pope luck

Amen!
