Seems that the PC bug has bitten a high schooler in Washington state.  His crime?  Wearing a T-Shirt with his schools nickname on it!

OMG!  SHOCK!  Was their nickname something like Redskin?  Or Chiefs?  Maybe Darkees?

Nope, the name of the school is Snohomish, and one of the nicknames, clearly listed on their web site is the 'Snohos', and that was what was on the t-shirt.

So for showing some school spirit, this senior was suspended!

I think the school administration should be suspended!  For stupidity above and beyond the acceptable!

Hmmm...maybe we should get t-shirts made for the school administration with 'snosluts' on them!  NOt a bad idea!

Clearly, the administration over-reacted. But I'd venture a guess that the student's "few choice words" didn't win him any admirers and probably increased the punishment.

Yes, the student was wronged--but we need to teach students how to disagree in a civil manner. I don't care how "right" my kid was, if they used "choice words" with an administrator, they will have far more to fear than a few days of suspension.

The parents should used this as an example of how to fight strong, but also disagree respectfully.

And to this end, the insubordination suspension was appropriate. But the shirt? Come ON, now.

Reminds me of the schools that have suspended students for wearing "Billabong" Tshirts.

I totally agree with you here. WHen my oldest son was in the 7th grade, he and a friend got into a fight. He told his friend to 'go to hell'. The Teacher did not like that word and so gave him detention. He was very upset and was telling me about it.

I guess I surprised him. I told him while I was not offended by the word hell, (this was a Lutheran School, BTW), his teacher apparently was (it was a math teacher), and while he was in that teacher's class, he needed to respect the teacher's sensibilities. He learned a cheap lesson that day.

But yes, the administration is apparently more concerned with PC than with teaching the children to read and write! Makes you wonder how they got their jobs in the first place!

It's the name of a surf clothing line, I think.

What next, we can't go to SoHo anymore? I guess the brainless waste of administrative paychecks would just fall over and die if the kid brought a Hostess HoHo in his lunch!!

True, the kid shouldn't have used "choice words" with the administrator, but then again the kid should never have been called into the administrators office for wearing a shirt emblazoned with a word that is a generally acceptable nickname for their school!!

If I was his parent, my "choice words" to this so-called "administrator" would have been, "Don't you feel guilty recieving a paycheck every week for "thinking" knowing that you don't have the foggiest idea what "thinking" is!

Just another butt filling a chair at taxpayer expense!!
