I hope that breaks the 'our Gang' Curse. I had serious reservations about his guilt as well, but then I did not sit through the evidence.

Excuse me, as some have pointed out, once charged never innocent, so he is "Not Guilty".

Alot of people wanted Blake put to death. I haven't paid any attention to anything factual, so I don't know what's up.. but people want blood.
Guess they will have to be satisfied with Scott Petersons.

Goes to show how much your chances depend on the jury. Scott Peterson was accused scant evidence and was sentenced to death. Blake is shown to have solicited people to kill his wife, several times, and walks away untouched.
IMHO, if Blake had been faced with the Peterson jury, and vice versa, the verdicts would have been exactly the opposite for eacch.

I think the difference here is the victims. Laci and Connor were innocents.
Bonny Lee on the other hand?...Well It's not nice to speak ill of the dead, so let's just say she was a tad "unethical" and leave it at that.
That and there was no actual physical evidence on Blake.

between the two of yall, i think you pretty much nailed it. although during the time both of em were permitted to wander around before being arrested, peterson managed to do more stupid things than blake. also, blake's celebrity (such as it is) provided him with a less repulsive public persona. blake also played the system well by managing to avoid trial for such a long time
finally, anyone who's been around long enough had to remember baretta wouldnt do the crime if he couldnt do the time, and blake made it clear he wasnt up to it.
(i keep thinking there may be a lotta money to be made promoting a limited multi-city theatre event called 'a killer evening: oj and robert blake on stage together'.)

I think the problem is we were not privy to all the evidence in either case the way the jury was. It may be the lawyers, but I think both juries did what was best given the evidence presented.

I loved the Baretta series and especially Electra Glide in Blue. But the trial made me realize (or just brought it back with stark refresher) that those series and movie are not who Robert Blake is.
Perhaps Thatoneguy's statement of the 'likability' factor of the victims says it best. But beyond that, since Bonnie was no innocent babe, the seeds of doubts of having many enemies was also a factor in the decision.

Interviews of the jurors reveal that the wittnesses were of weak quality, and no gun powder residue on Blake seemed to be the turning point - he just could not be directly linked to the crime.
One juror soundbite runs " we could not link the chain beyond reasonable doubt".
Jurors asked of the "quality of the victim" said her past did not influence their decision, however it did present options as to her killer.
IMHO, this will be the same verdict for Michael Jackson, based on the same poor wittness senario...
Anyone interested in starting a pool on guessing the date Scott Peterson has a fatal accident in Prison? I give him less than a year ( Laci's family contracts a hit )

he should be so ad-segged, it'd make cheney's undisclosed location seem vulnerable. on the other hand, the correctional officer's union is outta control; i dont recall anyone even catching a warning for leaving three gates open long enuff to enable some locos to breach the inner sanctum at corcoran, smack juan corona around and bust mansons guitar.
