One wonders about what the Editors are thinking
Published on March 9, 2005 By Dr Guy In Current Events

This is the story of Model Petra Nemcova.  One of the victims of the Tsunami.  One of the thousands out there, but she got press because she was 'someone'.

The story is sad and yet hopeful, but that is not the point.  Look at the picture attached to the story.  Are we to believe she came through unscathed?  The story clearly states she suffered injuries and lost her boy friend to the catastrophe.

Yet the editors chose to show us pictures of her latest promo pose.  What is sad is that the Editors probably did not even think that perhaps some stories should not carry pictures.   At least not one that has the victim smiling and looking like nothing had happened.  I guess it is just a story to them, and the real human suffering matters not.

But it got my goat as I only saw a callous photo of a victim of the Tsunami.  I did not want to see one of her broken and bruised body.  For the story was enough in and of itself. Makes you wonder if they displayed it on their tv show as well.

Everyone knows that a picture is worth a thousand words. However, few pictures can tell the story as well as the thousand words (especially the wrong picture!).

Damn!  You said in one sentence what my rambling was trying to say in several paragraphs!  Maybe I should blacklist you for being too insighful! (JK).

But you get one for that statement.

... or maybe 1000 words are good, but 25 is more "insightful"... ;~D

Thanks for the compliment and the insightful!
