Much has been written of the seperation of Church and State. Yet today we no longer doubt that there is separation. The debate is no longer a fear (except in the most extreme corners) of a sponsored religion.
Instead we have a persecution of a religion. No one seems to worry when a PUBLIC school teacher spouts the dogma of Islam, Hinduism or Buddhism. Yet the flares go up and the horns come out when someone dares to sing a Christmas carol or (god forbid! - sorry you atheist) talk about Jesus.
And that is the problem. We no longer have Freedom OF religion, we have religious persecution. but only at the government level. For even tho the 'state' is becoming all encomposing. it cannot subjugate thought yet.
While the 'state' can regulate our actions, it cannot as yet regulate our thoughts. And so what is going to happen tomorrow?
The businesses that are in America are going to close. Why? Not to go on a jihad against any religion, not to persecute any beleifs, but in recognition of a day that over 80% of the US decides to acknowledge. Not observe mind you, acknowledge.
Jewish people will volunteer to work for Christians so that they may be with Family. Christians will travel great distances to be with family. Even Muslims, Hindus and Buddhist will join in to help these people have a happy day.
Why? Why do they do that, if we are persecuting them?
Maybe because we are not, and they know that there is no other nation on earth that respects their beliefs as much as we do. No other nation goes out of its way to respect those beliefs.
From personal experience, I know I have done the same for them. Tomorrow America will shut down. Not due to any religious persecution, not due to any state sponsored mandate, as there is none.
Tomorrow all will be closed because Christians are celebrating a holiday, and good people of other faiths respect that out of respect, not fear. And the government, to date, is powerless to stop them.
Given the current omnipotence of some, I dont expect that to last very long. For they know what is good for us beyond our ken to know. They know that respecting a religious belief is an anethma to their agnostic world. To even acknowledge a belief is a heresy that must be squashed.
You think not? We use to think that about birth abortions. Now they are the way of the world.
Argue the point if you want, but dont deny it. You have no basis to deny the abrogation of religious freedom in the name of 'seperation of'. There is no issue of seperation of. Just denial of.
