Occupy is starting up its antics again, and I felt it would be a good time to take a closer look at them.  They claim to represent the "99%", but a vast majority (not even just right wing Hillary) of the "99%" want nothing to do with them.  They also claim to be the new Hippies.  But I have not found too many old hippies that want anything to do with them either.

Why?

Taking a trip down memory lane, the hippies of the 60s and 70s were a fearful bunch.  Many feared for their lives (Vietnam).  Many feared what "the man" would do to them.  But most just feared growing up.  Not older - they all wanted to be 21 -29 (do not trust anyone over 30).

But for the most part they were also pretty harmless.  They were not the ones that blew up buildings (that was Obama's heroes).  For the most part, they were not spitting on the soldiers returning from Vietnam (That was the Clinton gang).

They were not angels, but neither were they demons. 

But there was one thing that endeared them to me.  They created some of the greatest music of all time - and I am not talking about regular rock and roll.  Jesus Christ Superstar, Godspell, Hair.  There were a lot of singles too that had very deeply religious themes.  I am sure they became best sellers due to the message of the hippies, but they were there.

And of course, my parents hate those musicals.  But I still love them.  I was never a hippy myself, I was more of the individual.  I had my tie dyed shirts, torn jeans and bandanas.  But I was too busy living life to "drop out".

Still, they had a positive impact on me.  Not necessarily what they believed, but in the strength of their convictions and the gentleness in which they approached it.

Contrast that with the occupy movement.  They are not singing about love and peace and hope and charity.  They are demanding hate, war (of the classes), no hope or charity.  They demand to be cared for - cradle to grave.  They become very violent when you disagree with them (not oppose them, just simple disagreement).  Their music is about "b*tches" and "hoes' and every 4 letter word in the language.

True hippies wanted nothing from you other than to live their life the way they wanted.  Occupy demands you live your life in servitude to them.  Real hippies talked about god and faith.  Occupy talks about hating religion, the oppression of religion, and how religion is to be destroyed.

Occupy is not the hippies of the 21st century.  Occupy is the criminal class that has been empowered to demand the care of a prison without the walls and restrictions.  They are not hippies.  They never will be.  Their sole source of news is violence.

Maybe I am just nostalgic and see my youth as somewhat more rosy than it really is.  But I will pop in my JC Superstar CD and be transported back to a time when religion was as important to those I had little in common with, as it was to me.  We had a bond.

There is no bond between occupy and most of America today.  There really is nothing good about them.
