Guilt by Association
Published on September 14, 2010 By Dr Guy In Politics

Much has been made of Bush's war on terrorism, mostly by democrats.  They accuse him of a bigotry so far not supported by facts, and that charge has been picked up and used by Muslim countries around the world.  Yet it was Bush on 9-14-01 that went out of his way to specifically say we were at war with terrorism, and not Muslims.

But what about democrats faced with similar situations?  Looking back at the last war that consumed the nation, Vietnam, Kennedy did not lock up the Vietnamese.  But then how many were in this country at the time?  Truman did not lock up the Koreans, but again, how many were in the country at the time?  And in each of those Wars, neither aggressor really hit the United States.  What of the other wars of the 20th century?

We had the "War to end all Wars", or world War I as it is now called.  There we had a democrat president as well, Woodrow Wilson.  What was his response to that war?

Americans of German descent were interned, forced to "Show your papers", and systematically harassed.  All very unconstitutional.  And all done by democrats.  A very grave injustice, yet do you hear any liberals demanding reparations for them? {chirp. chirp}

Then came the war that topped the "War to end all Wars", World War II.  And what happened then?  Over 100,000 Americans of Japanese descent were interned in America.  Losing property, liberty, rights and habeas Corpus.  Again, all very illegal from every standpoint of the constitution, and all for no reason (the most decorated division of the American Army in Europe during the war was the Nessei Division - a division of second generation Americans of Japanese descent).

So much for democrats and the rule of law.  Now we are in a war not of our own making, and have been (some day for over 30 years).  And our troops have waged it well - our leaders are another story.  Instead of gving them full support, they are handcuffing them and making them canaries in coal mines.  The "medal of restraint" is a perfect example.  If you do not kill your enemy, Obama will give you a medal!  Or I guess to your widow(er) since your enemy has no such rules about killing you!

We are trying to get on with our lives, and vanquish the enemy.  But the democrats declare defeat before the boots hit the ground.  They say "we support the troops" while pulling the rug out from under them.  They now not only do not intern those that "look like" the enemy, but they make sure they pay them to go around the world to promote their new found pacifism.  Guilt?  Some would say yes, they are atoning for their sins of the past century when it came to those that "looked different".

I have a different take.  The wars of the 20th century were waged by democrats.  Like Bush, they did not start them, but they did wage them to a successful conclusion.  But they used very illegal methods to keep the folks at home in line during those wars.  Bush never did (much to the chagrin of those who protest their own biases).  And that stands in marked contrast to the democrats.  And that shames them.  So much that they have to lie about what Bush did/does, and run from their own sins.

The party of racists and bigots is not the party of Lincoln.  It is the party of Obama and Pelosi. One does not have to opine about the subject.  You only have to look at the facts.  That both scares democrats and makes them angry.  And in their anger they become more racist and bigoted than ever.

A gracious democrat is an oxymoron.  As is a colorblind one.  They have demonstrated they know only how to legislate and intern based upon race and fear.

But they do one thing well.  They fool some of the people all of the time.

One thing that I have noticed is that Obama has brought some real change to this country, it's just not the change he was actually trying to bring. Thanks to social websites like Twitter & Facebook, thanks to forms of communication such as email & texting, thanks to media websites like youtube & Flickr, thanks to gadgets like iPhones and Smart Phones; information has the ability to travel at the speed of light and people no longer are forced to get their information from a single source such as the local news, now they have the option of not only getting their information and news from multiple sources but also have the ability to get it on the go and be able to verify and research this information to check it's validity. They also have what in a way can be considered a lie detector as these days there is very little anyone can say or do without having it posted all over the Internet showing the real them and this forces people to either hide deeper (which is not very possible these days unless you're Bin Laden) or be less crooked. Thanks to Obama the world is slowing opening their eyes to the bullshit that is our Gov't and every time he opens his mouth he proves it and people like him less. At this point I don't think he can give enough money or social programs to anyone to save his own ass, but that's just my opinion.

He is sure giving it the old college try.

DG as long as there are people that equate compassion with giving a handout, some Democrats will do well (I won't lump them all together). You covered the major wars of the 20th century, but IMO there has always been other more telling examples in our history.

What party supported slavery pre-Civil War.

What party removed blacks from the military (outside of menial support roles) pre-WWI

What party gave the least support the 1957 Civil Rights Act.

What party supported segregation in the 1960's.

What party gave the least support the 1964 Civil Rights Act.

No questions marks, because there is no question as to which party I am writing about. How does history get distorted or forgotten? Critics will try to infer that the two main parties roles somehow reversed (conveniently after the 1964 Civil Rights Act). To that I say, show me some legislation as proof. No, there is only one real answer... money. If one can just throw a little cash (not too much, just a taste) they can keep folks in line, even garner more support. People do like a freebie. The tactic has worked so well racially, it has been expanded to other groups that like freebies too and are not bothered as to where the money comes from. Now it is almost impossible to pass any meaningful legislation (such as border security) as it might hurt someones feelings, be racist, or otherwise political incorrect.

The plantains of the 21st century are just a little bigger and a lot more diverse than they were in the past, but the goal is the same money, power, and control. Believe it or not there were some slaves back then that were comfortable with their situation, same as today.

Do Democrats hate? I would say no more than most, but it is a tool they, as a political party, often use (as accusations) and it is wearing thin.

This comment would have been great on my "A telling Statement" as it is kind of a revelation as well.  Great comment though! And I agree.I do not think it is Obama's doing or even due to him, just a natural progression of information that started 20 years ago.  Where it will be in another 10 years is anyone's guess (but guess right and you can be a millionaire!).

With any luck, at least we will have an opposing party in control of one house of congress come the new year and we can stop that crap.

What prompted me to write this article is the constant bombardment from the media on how we SHOULD treat Muslims.  I am just tried of the lecturing.  We do have some crackpots, but not many. And for the most part, Americans do not care if you kneel and pray or bow and pray.  Bush made it a non-issue.  Bin Laden and the democrats have been trying to make it an issue.  Why?  Because they feed on hate.  Whether it is their home grown variety, or manufactured (as in the latest) does not matter.  They thrive on it.

Do Democrats hate? I would say no more than most, but it is a tool they, as a political party, often use (as accusations) and it is wearing thin.

Exactly!  I guess I am a better writer than I thought as that is what I was getting at (I suppose I went overboard on their hypocrisy).

It's ironic how this issue resembles my daily life. You do good things and your reward is that people treat you like you're the bad guy. Why? Because the truth hurts and people would rather be lied to because it's less painful at first. It's kinda like getting an injection for a sickness. Although the sickness sucks, some people would rather stay sick than feel the short, temporary pain of a needle to get the medicine. Lies are like virtual reality they trick you into thinking everything is good and that makes people feel good and who doesn't want to feel good.

IN a way, yes, lies are like virtual reality.  In that they are not reality.  I guess the worst lies are the ones we make to ourselves, and that would be more like what you are describing.  If we lie to one another, then we still understand the truth.  But when we lie to ourselves, we lose reality.

What I find quite amusing is the desire by the left to associate Saudi Arabia a, muslim country, with the right. One sees this often, went the topic of oil or FOX news comes up. Yet they seem to have difficulty in how exactly exploit that (propaganda) to the fullest, as the muslim cause is their crusade (irony) du jour.

You should have seen the site think progressive dot com!  They were actually trying to paint James lee as a conservative!  They breed the hate and then try to blame others for it. Slugs have a better backbone that those cretins.
