Psikotick got me to thinking. He wrote an excellant article of his fears of the Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell. No one will argue they are the representatives, if not the poster boys of the religious Right.
Psi was afraid that they would get their way now that Bush has a 'mandate'. basically, we did not disagree on what the duo wanted, just on if they would get it.
But in the discussion, we found out we are pretty much in sync in our beliefs. We just chose different sides to support. And in that and Llama's post, I see that some on this site have pigeon holed people. And you can pigeon hole some (Like Robertson and Falwell). But most of us, whether we voted for Bush or Kerry, cant be. Why? because we agree with them on some things, and disagree on others.
In the case of Psi and I (rhymes!), we almost agree on all points. I think our differences are on what is most important. And that is why we backed different horses. Does that make me a liberal or Psi a conservative? No. We are what we are. And we will disagree on issues. But I think both of us are mainstream and the bain of every liberal and conservative out there.
We are not your past, we are your future. And one day we may even have our own voice! After all, the Democrats split in the mid 19th century. There is always hope for a real third party. I told Leapinglizard he (she?) was a goldwater republican. basically I am too. And I dare say that Psikotic is as well. And Grim and most of the ones who vote liberterian. Get government out of our lives, and let us live. That means no spy cameras in the bedrooms, and 'We dont need no stinking Taxes'. Just to support a bloated bureacracy.
