Let The Candidates Decide
Published on September 16, 2008 By Dr Guy In Democrat

In any election, since media became a factor, political campaigns have had negative ads.  Some worse than others (the Daisy Ad), and some just funny.  Most are just designed to show the shortcomings of the opponent, figuring (rightly or wrongly) that voters will not see the shortcomings without being lead to them.

So who is the king of negative ads in this campaign?  If we ask the media, or the pundits, or the emotional "Wanna-bee" reporters, or even blogdom, I am sure we are going to get many answers.  But when it comes right down to it, who would know more about what ads their campaign is running?  The Candidates.

So let's allow one to speak for himself:

"If we're going to ask questions about, you know, who has been promulgating negative ads that are completely unrelated to the issues at hand, I think I win that contest pretty handily," Obama said.

I guess the messiah has spoken.  So for all the foreigners thinking that McCain is the bad guy, who are you going to believe?  Some biased media pundit?  A blog?  Or the candidate himself.

I wonder if Obama is going to run this ad in all 57 states?

Anyone can go anytime, but it is much more likely that McCain will pass away before Obama will, we are playing percentages here.

No, based upon genetics, what that tells us is that Obama is more likely to die than McCain.  But neither is a guarantee.

As for the lotto tickets - I think McCain is a bit busy now.  But if he loses, I will definitely check to see if he will buy a few.

When is this POW stuff going to run its course?

When we all live in Eden and dont have to worry about evil men trying to do us evil.  Until such time, good men have to fight them, and some will suffer much more than the rest of us for it.

But that is really secondary to the issue you address.  The POW stuff was WHERE and WHEN he got his injuries, and is immatterial to the point at hand.  That he has the injuries is the issue.  FDR did not get wounded in war, but was a parapalegic.  And the question was "why cant" and the answer is "injuries". So why does it matter how he got them?

So this is just another Dem talking point but really has no legs to it. (Tumbleweed).

Right.  100 years ago, 70 was top end for life.  Today, most people are just starting to enjoy life at retirement!

And this age thing is going to hurt them with the most dedicated voters - the elderly.  Most of them do not want to be put out to pasture yet - they have a lot of living to do.

Ahh I hate to say it but it was absolutly no surprise.

But that is the point.  You can die young, or old.  No one is guaranteed their life beyond today. 4 presidents died way before their time, and 3 almost did.

Funny the tangents these comments take.

How McCain uses Google:

Just a question - how did Clinton use Google when he was elected?

You know, I'm going to sound like an ass for a second.

Yes, you are. but that is okay we still love you.

Somewhere around the time that the vicious liberals stop using it as a reason for people not to vote for him. you yourself said he did not know how to use a computer as reason not to vote for him. He can’t use a computer because of his injuries, yet he was able to father children, and successfully run for the senate, and now is running for the presidency. Sure you poke fun at him, we all do. Had he not chosen someone like Governor Palin I would not vote for him because he is too liberal for my tastes. You see conservatives don’t hate people because of they way they look or sound or their religious beliefs. We want someone that can do the job and do it well. The balance of the governor makes him acceptable to me. On the other side all we hear is he is too old, he can’t do some simple task because he is too old, don’t vote for him because he will die in office.

You can’t bring up what you think are his negatives and at the same time demand he not defend himself against the attacks.

and successfully run for the senate

That right there is a very interesting point. How is it that both Mccain and Obama are Senators yet somehow Obama believes McCain can not be president because he "doesn't know" how to email? So it does not take computer knowledge to be Senator but it does to be President? BTW, not knowing how to email and not being able to are 2 different things. Obama still owes McCain an apology for such a disrespectful comment.

That really is a big part of it.  The people talking about it are the liberals - trying to discredit him as they see it as an asset.  McCain is not running all over the country promoting his service the way Kerry did.  call it quiet confidence.  He does not need to, for unlike Kerry, his accomplishments speak for themselves, and others are talking about them.

Ahh I hate to say it but it was absolutly no surprise. William Harrison had the longest inaguration speech in history. He was 67 years old. It was 1841.

Just looked it up at birth in 1841 life expectency was 41

ok then....going by your numbers.  You're saying that Harrison lived 26 years past his expectancy?

And you're worried about McCain?

How old is man's life expectancy today?  How old is McCain's mother?

I don't think this is something to get all in a dither about.

Good point!  By that reasoning, we only have to wait about 26 years for McCain to take the oath, and then die!

it was no surprise not because of his age but because he was a moron

Yes this was a VERY rare thing in his age.  The bottome line is that the presidency is a very aging job.  Look at clinton, look at bush they both looked not 8 years older but about 20 years older after(and for bush in the later times) their terms.  Plus his body has been pretty beaten up over life anyway so I highly doubt that he will live as long as his mom.

How old is man's life expectancy today?

Male life expectancy in the US today is ~75 years.  Females are ~80 years.  Grabbed those from Wikipedia...so as always take it with a grain of salt...but I'm pretty sure that's in the right ballpark.

Who was a moron?  Harrison (Careful how you answer that!  I am a fellow Virginian )
