Another Fonserelli
Published on October 15, 2004 By Dr Guy In Democrat
Draginol posted a blog about the old media jumping the shark awhile back. That was in reference to Dan Rather's fraud show, and his refusal to admit he was wrong.

Well, for those of us who loved the Fonz, there was another show that basically could be called "I am John Kerry, and this is my life".

In it The Fonz gave bad advice and then tried to fix it. But the only way he could fix it was by saying he was wrong. And he could not! He tried "I was wruuuuunnnn. I was wrunnn". But he could never get the words out of his mouth.

Now for the second time (or third), John Kerry is pulling a Fonserelli. He cannot admit he was wrong. He was dead wrong to bring in Mary Cheney, and after making the faux pas, he could have made the controversy go away quickly by appologizing, and saying he was wrong. But like his Senate testimony in 71, and several instances back in the primaries, he chooses to excuse, explain and deny culpability. And that just feeds the controversy.

It has gone beyond him now to the point that ms. Edwards has stuck not only a foot into her mouth, but an entire leg. If he had just said "I was wrong, and I appologize", this would be a non-issue.

And I know that the Cheney's would have graciously accepted the appology, for to do anything else would have shifted the shark to them! End of controversy!

But no, Kerry has to dig in his heels and keep to his pride. He should remember, that Pride goeth before the fall.

Better yet, maybe his advisors (as his wife sure cant say the words) should help him practice "I was wrong, and I appologize".

See how easy it is? And how quickly the controversy goes away.

Maybe Kerry, like Bush, never makes mistakes. I thought Christ was the only perfect man, but it seems that I was wruuuun . . . wruuuuuuunnn . . . well . . . you know.

Texas Wahine, .

I don't think Bush supporters are in a strong position to attack any candidate on issue of refusing to acknowledge mistakes. As far as I can tell, Bush said he's not aware of any serious mistakes that he's made, that'll he'll let historians identify the minor ones, and that the only mistakes of which he is aware are in a few of his appointments. I see no contrition in that answer, no real taking of any responsibility. In fact, I think he's implying that these appointees are responsible for any mistakes that may have been made during Bush's watch.

What happened to "the buck stops here"?

I will give you a smile for that, but the difference between saying you are wrong on policy, and wrong on a statement is the nut that kerry cant crack. Bush has said he was sorry for his spoonerism, and mis-statements. Kerry never has.

First of all, Kerry has said that he made a mistake in how he explained his voting on the $87 million request. He acknowledged that in the first debate.

Second, can you show where Bush has acknowledged a bigger mistake than flubbing his English and sometimes "misstating" things? (instant translation: Bush "clarification" = Kerry "flip-flop") Admitting mistakes like those is not equivalent to the kind of admission for which Dr. Guy is calling.

Didn't Bush say admit he made some mistakes as well? I guess that didn't count because you dislike Bush.

That is wrunnnngggg.

Wrong. We are not talking about when he voted and when he did not, and there is nothing in the blog about that. Go start your own.

This is about admitting you are wrong. Not politically, not ideally. Just you made a mistake.

Have you ever?

What ever happened to staying on topic? Or even, like this is not about kerry's administrative decisions? Did we say he was wrong about his votes? Nope! Did we say he was wrong about his ideas? nope!

Guess the next post better be on topic, or I am going to do something I have never done before. Delete it.

Or are you just wrong?
