Debate, and discuss, just dont Bore me.

Last year, I purchased some items from Deep Discount for Christmas.  You know that big holiday that most people in the western world celebrate (even if they do not believe in Christianity)?  I am sure you have heard of it, and most people (this side of a vegetable) know it always falls on December 25th, every year!

But Deep Discount does not!  No, after ordering the stuff well in advance, and figuring even with a slow boat from China the stuff will get there by Christmas, I wait.

I waited a week to get one of those nice "your merchandise has shipped emails".  Never came.  So I call.  The lady was nice enough (no fault on her part - she is just a poor person that has to take the abuse for the clowns problems).  But she calmly tells me that half the order will not arrive until some time in January (no mention of this was ever made when I ordered - only the obligatory - usually ships in 24 hours crap), and the rest was not guaranteed to be there until December 26.

Uh, excuse me?  Christmas is December 25!  But no amount of pleases would change the story.  So I told her to cancel the order!  "Sorry, I cant do that".

I was hot!  I immediately went on Amazon.com (the BEST on line shopping place by far), and re-ordered everything.  And told the lady that I was going to refuse shipment.

Which I did.  I refused shipment on all.  So they should get it back, and then credit me for my stuff, right?

Hell no!  First they screwed up the billing and billed me twice for one item, never shipped 2 others, and refuse to credit my account!  Rip off Artists!

So I am out about $40, they are gleefully rubbing their hands and laughing about how they just got $40 for free, and I have learned a lesson.

I will never shop Deep Discount again!  And if any one is even thinking about it, I advise them to stop!  They advertise great prices, but then never ship you the merchandise. or ship it after a month of holding on to your money!

I hope they do that to enough people, as it will eventually catch up to them when no one decides their prices are worth the risk of losing money, time, and patience with a shyster outfit like that.

Enjoy your $40 Deep Discount.  You will never get another dime from me.  Or anyone that I know who wants a recommendation of WHERE to shop on line.

Cheats!

If I were you I'd call the credit card company and dispute the charges. $40 isn't a lot but it's the principle of the thing.

I did. And they did reverse the charges, but then re-instated them. I guess Deep Discount showed them some fake reciepts or something. I am not faulting the CC company. But that just makes me think that Deep Discount is committing fraud now as well.

Sorry you had such bad luck with DeepDiscount Dr Guy.  My own experience with them is that they can be very slow to receive inventory and then ship it, and when they do ship it they ship Parcel Post or Media Mail (which is handled very slowly by the USPS) but they do eventually come through with the products that are ordered.

That said, I'm really appreciating and enjoying dealing with Amazon.com.  With a bunch of purchases of HD DVD discs (and a player) as that format has been doing it's death spiral, I've gotten back a fair amount of credit for price adjustments after the fact.  Amazon does these adjustments with minimal prompting, never gives me any flap about it, and does a great job of notifying me about status of orders that are shipping, on back order, etc.

I have dealt with a lot of companies using Ye olde Postal Service, and never had a problem with them, just Deep Discount. They are on my black list and I am going to make sure anyone who wants to know knows about it.

As for Amazon, they went out of their way on another deal with me to make me happy (and it was my fault!). So they are my first choice when buying. Both the buying (warning you if something will not be delivered on time and letting you cancel) and returning are a breeze! And well worth the few cents they may cost over shyster places like Deep Discount.

Best thing you can do is exactly what you just did- tell people this horror story as much as possible. For every single unhappy customer out there, they will turn away at least ten potential customers by spreading the story to their friends and associates. If the story is bad enough, those friends and colleagues will further spread the word. If you wanted to you could send an e-mail to deep discount linking to this article, saying "look at the bad publicity I've caused you for a lousy 40 bucks!"

In echoing terpfan I too love Amazon. For how remote I am from major centers, they always manage to get everything I order here within a couple days, no ifs ands or buts.

Long live the internets.

Amazon is definitely winning friends!

And I just may do what you suggest with the link. Thanks for the suggestion.

Let's see what the letter may bring.  Probably threats of definition of character.
