One of the slams against liberals (and by extension the party of them - Democrats) is the total abrogation of personal responsibility.  Nothing is ever the fault of anyone.  It is all due to outside forces that conspire to rob people of life, liberty and the pursuit of their happiness.  Thus they must continually enact new legislation in order to prevent such outside forces from wrecking havoc on the lives of the poor innocent happiness seekers.

This is the snake oil that they sell to their constituents.  One that they happily lap up in order to avoid any nasty occurrences - like saying sorry for a wrong.

Now they are not only selling that snake oil, they are using it.  The latest version of congress was a fairly good one (for those of us who believe that the government that governs best governs least). Yet the democrats and liberals are decrying it for failing to do anything!  So of course this must be the fault of the majority - who run things - right?

WRONG!  No, the whole problem with the first democrat controlled congress in 12 years is - Republicans!  Those wascally wepublicans thwarted the every move of the noble and blessed (oops!  Sorry - religion not allowed) Democrats!  Never mind that the democrats hardly paid lip service to "bipartisanship".  Instead deciding to just ram through their agenda with no thought to what others may want, just what their loyal base wanted (that only makes up 20% of the voting populace in any event).

So the failure (in their eyes) of this congress was not due to their own ineptness, but to the shenanigans (and I guess stealing in the eyes of the ignorant) of the republicans.  Now all the liberals are drinking the snake oil.  Not only the unwashed masses that must be tolerated to empower them, but their leaders as well.

Woe be to the poor democrats that the snake oil still has not healed their "hematomas".

Let us not forget the plight of the innocent snakes who are rounded up by the hundreds in order to harvest their precious oil.

Squuezing a Boa for its oil is not my idea of a fun day.
