I'm a Conservative and I love my country.

I'm a Conservative and I am Catholic. Our religion is not political.

I am a Conservative and I think it's a compliment when you call me a conservative

I am a Conservative and I think the ACLU started with the noblest of intentions, but has perverted their charter to further a political agenda.

I am a Conservative and I don't want the United States to be world police.

I am a Conservative and I think TRUE tolerance is a virtue, but the misdefined complete lack of morals or values that our culture CALLS tolerance is not.

I am a Conservative and I am not willing to compromise my freedoms for peace "at any cost". That which we value most comes at the steepest price.

I am a Conservative and believe that government does not know best, and often knows worst.

I am a Conservative and believe that everyone should have an opportunity, but should not be guaranteed a life style.

I am a Conservative and I support our troops. I want them to come home alive. Afterthey are allowed to finish their mission.

I am a Conservative and I want judges to stop legislating from the bench, and allow the people to decide!

i thought of doing this but decided it would be overboard besides i am not a republican and although i am a Conservative.

i have some liberal ideas too

for instance i believe in creationism but i also believe in evolution not to the extant that the schools are now teaching.

for explanation i believe god created the earth and every living thing on it before the flood. but then the environments prior to the flood were all nearly the same.

after the flood, and we all know that there is no way Noah got two of all the land animals on the ark. he got two of every group of animals on the ark IE families.

and the animals we have today are the ones who have evolved from the ones that were saved.

I agree with MM when he says that Faith and Politics are like oil and water. Oh they influence each other, there is no doubt. But neither should rule the other. I put in mine that I am Catholic, and that our religion is not political to show that while I am conservative, there are Catholics that are liberal. And they are no less Catholic than I.

Seems very similar to what I wrote in loca's article. Was I the cause for all these spin-outs of loca's article? After all I was the first to imitate hers. lol.

With Special attrribution to Charles!

Actually, we could have all piggy backed on hers, but I went after a couple of her points (debating), so when Gid did his, I decided to do one as well.

Just like Gid, it surprises me how much we agree on in general. BTW, I always wondered what conservatives are conserving?

The sound bite answer is - rights. As in the 10th amendment that seems to be dying faster than the second.

I'm Catholic and I'm more moderate/liberal...I sometimes wonder why the Catholic church seems to push me towards more conservative values. Sometimes it bothers me and I honestly have a huge conflict between my political and religious views.

It pushes both ways. For those on the right, it pushes to the left, and for those on the left, it pushes right JFK was able to separate his religion and political beliefs, and I would say most Catholics in politics do as well. My church is made up of as many conservatives (politically) as liberals. We share a common creed, but not common political beliefs. And that is why I stated that my religion is not political.

Part of the problem with thinking that the church is pushing us to one side or the other is in thinking of the church in political terms. Abortion is not a liberal idea religiously, yet it is politically. The opposite is true of the death penalty. Yet the common factor among the church's teachings is the respect for life. It is consistent, and often we are not.
