Debate, and discuss, just dont Bore me.

At least most of the songs I do love, the titles are parts of the Lyrics.

With no slight to our own JU masters of lyrics and melody, my favorite song has to be Unchained Melody.  By the Righteous Brothers.  To tell the truthm I do like most of their work, but they are not my favorite band/group/individual.

But my favorite song is Unchained Melody.  Which has no real connection to the Lyrics (I suspect it does to them, but not to the average listener).  Yet the melody and lyrics are such that I am swept away in rapture every time I hear the song.  It is that good! (Second on the list is Candle of Life, which is mentioned in the Lyrics).

So what is it about Unchained Melody that moves me so much (and others I gather)?  I dont really know.  It is a heart tugger and a real sweet song.  But I have heard many of both in my life, yet even though they are good, they are not Unchained Melody.

I guess it is the individuality of us that we each find a song that hits us in just the right place.  And we see it as our favorite.

For me, it is that crazy song whose title has nothing to do with the Lyrics.  And it will always stick in my mind (even driving out Barney, Sean! ).

I think my all time favorite song is Amazing grace. Not because of the subject matter so much as I just find it to the a great song that appeals to me.

Other than that, my favorite song changes with my mood but the first cut from the Eagle's Hell Freezes Over album is always right up there at the top as I agree with the sentiment of the song 100% and apply it in my own life.

I think that is what does it to us all. NO real connection, yet a connection. Amazing grace is my favorite to sing, since I have been told I am Bass.

Not like I can hear that tho.

Unchained Melody is one of the greats. I like Stairway to Heaven.

Well the picture says it all! Yes, Stairway to Heaven is one of the greatest. But it does kind of say that in the lyrics.

Now I got that one in my head! No problem! It is that good.

my favorite song changes with my mood

I'm with Mason on that, Doc...some days an open road and any hard drivin' ZZ Top tune and we'll be doing 90 before you know it. Other days a mellower approach is needed.

I am of an age where the modern music doesn't do much for me...I have XM in my truck and listen to the 60' or 70's most of the day (side trips into the 50' and Top Tracks allowed). It is funny how hearing an old song that you haven't even thought of for decades can suddenly take you back to a time and present it as clear as a bell.

I have always liked the Righteous Brothers, too. Songs like Unchained Melody require 60's style contemplation...back in the day a little smoke cleared it all up. Not that I would know anything about that.

I suspect we chewed some of the same years.  But yes, Mason is right.  Still in the end, if we had to say "one song".  That is what I meant.  Sometimes I am in a Moody Blues mood, sometimes in a Led Zepplin one (both are my favorite groups).  It does matter the time of day, or phase of the moon.

BUT (dont ya hate that word?), everytime I hear Unchained Melody, it stops me in my tracks. I guess I am a sucker for it.
